Philadelphia November 9th, 2018, the Heathcote 5th-grade class are marching into the Constitution center to start their day in Philadelphia. If you didn’t know Philadelphia was the capital of the U.S for ten years. Also, it was were the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution was written and signed. Philadelphia is very historical with a lot of museums.

The 5th graders are ready to explore the wonders of the constitution. They watched the show “Living News.” Where they talked about some of the amendments? The 5th grade was just going around and found the Hamilton exhibit. They saw a lot about Hamilton and how he got into a duel with Aaron Burr that he lost. Every 5th grader is ready to watch the show “Freedom Rising” one of the 5th graders said that “Freedom Rising talks about the quest for Freedom.”

The 5th graders were back and on a tour around Independence square. There first stop is the Liberty bell. There was a crack at the bottom of the bell. It seemed really big because they tried fixing crack. The last time it broke was for George Washington’s birthday and they couldn’t repair the last crack at the top. After the last crack it was silent, it never rang again after George Washington’s birthday. The 5th graders are just about to go into Independence hall but they come across a century box (security back then) were the troops would protect the people inside Independence hall. Also they were standing right there were they read the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution aloud.

The 5th graders are going to the courtroom were they figure out if they are guilty or not. Next was the continental congress room were they discuss the constitution and the Declaration of Independence and discuss even more. There is also a room were they throw lots of parties. And that was there day in Philadelphia.

  1. I learnt lots of new things about Philadelphia. I did not know that it was the capital of the U.S for ten years. Ben Simmons (Plays for the Philadelphia 76ers) is actually Australian and won the Rookie of the Year award in 2018 and made the all star team in 2019. Thanks for sharing all of this info on Philly.
