In writing my comedy script, I thought about using the cultural difference between Argentina and Puerto Rico. In addition to using language differences, I used sports to illustrate those cultural difference. I choose (1) baseball because is the national sport of Puerto Rico and (2) soccer because it is the national sport for Argentina.

In writing the baseball portion, I thought about my Dad’s lack of understanding of baseball to come up with some jokes. I wanted to make fun of him by pointing out the things he did not understand about baseball.  For example, I would say: “I caught a fly ball.” My Dad would say: “Did you hit a fly with the ball.” Then, I would say (making face and using a funny voice): “No Dad, the batter hit the ball in the air and I caught it to get an out.”

I tried to do the same thing about my Mom and soccer.  The only difference is that she knows more about the game of soccer; so I tried to make the jokes more about her experience of watching a soccer game. For example, my mom thinks soccer players are lazy because they pass the ball back and forth back and forth; there is not a lot of attacking.
