Community Service

Hi guys!  This post is about the community service work the fifth grade is doing.

The fifth grade is raising money to help the kids in our community. We are trying to raise money to build two gaga pits in underprivileged areas. We chose gaga because gaga is a game that anyone could play, no matter what age you are and it is a very fun game. We are raising money by making and selling Valentines Day cards, letting people take part in an obstacle course, selling tie-dye t-shirts and holding a tag sale. We hope to be able to build the gaga pits and play with the kids a the gaga pits. I l00k forward to raising all this money and building the two gaga pits.

Valentines Day just passed and we sold over 50 cards! We sold each card five dollars. Every day some kids stayed in for recess and made cards. We decorated the cards with all different sizes and colors of hearts and each card had a different pattern. We were very careful not to have oozing glue. We were very happy to know that we raised over 250 dollars.

We have recently finished our obstacles. Everyone in the fifth grade had an obstacle to run. We tested our obstacles during the Winter Games. My obstacle is a cardboard maze. We going to share our games during the school fair. People will pay money to do our games. We all look forward to sharing our games with the whole school during the fair. We hope people will have a fun time playing our games.

My teacher, Mr. B has been collecting many things for the tag sale.  Mr. B said that we raise the most money during the tag sale. We will help out by helping people carry things to their car and also setting up the tag sale. We will be selling everything from baseball cards to furniture. We hope that we collect a lot of money from this tag sale.

At the end of the year we hope to build and maintain two gaga pits in Westchester. Last year Mr. B’s class raised money to send children to summer camps, and we hope to have enough money to also do that this year. I look forward to helping my community and being able to play with the kids at the gaga pits.

33Birds

Hi guys!

I am exited to continue helping out my teacher’s charity, 33Birds. I like to help because it is fun. My teacher, Mr. B has told our class that we are trying to raise money to build and maintain 2 gaga pits in underserved areas in Westchester. We have earned some money by making and selling Valentines Day cards.  We will earn more money by selling tie-dye t-shirts, holding a tag sale and creating an obstacle course for other kids to participate in. I hope we can help our community and make 2 gaga pits.

Bye!
