Technology 2021

Friday in class we did a nearpod, it was about the three types of wood. The three woods were  soft, hard, and engineer wood. They are all used for different reasons. Soft woods are used for decking and exterior projects. Hard wood is used for much different things such as walls and furniture and engineer wood is used for a variety of applications like home construction. There are different tree species in sof of wood for example softwoods has pine

Technology 2021

This year I started technology class. We’ve done a couple of projects/lessons for a couple of weeks. So today I want to share one lesson with you. The lesson that I enjoyed the most was the wood we explored/cut in class. We discovered that if you snap the wood vertical it gives a clean sharp cut. But cutting it horizontal gives an unclean cut. It also leaves a lot of ridges that can give you a lot of splinters if you brush your finger through. Those were just some of the thing I noticed about the wood but there is many more to learn.

Technology #3

the third project we did was soldering. we made a key chain or a bracelet i made three lines we first had to sketch on circles. Then we made our final sketch on vectornator. After we were done drawing we went to print it out. Then we cut out our pieces of wire. Then we got doubled sided tape i put the pieces of wire on there and then i soldered it.

Technology #2

Today in class we did breakout. We had two locked boxes with three Locks on each box. We had to find clues around our side. The other side opened the box first and in the box was safety glasses and they also open the special box. Throughout breakout we found a piece of paper a little box under the table. And we were allowed to ask for two clues.

Technology #1

Today in class we learned the safety rules in class. The first step was to tie up your hair. The second step was think before you act. the third one is train before using the tools. Four step is no talking when using tools. Fifth one is always wear safety glasses. Sixth is get permission to use the tools. Seventh one is unplug and shut of when making adjustments. Eight never leave tool unattended. And (etc)

Capstone #7

It was the day I was going to share my capstone project I was fifth. I was so nervous! I memorized script and did everything but i just had a feeling i was going to mess up. I was sharing in the multi-purpose room B. I saw my name on the bored and walked up I had no flash card. When I started I was so surprised my tone was good and i was confident  I did mess up because my slides kept on changing but i mean that wasn’t my fault. I finished loud and proud. When every body finished I gave out my business cards.

Capstone #6

I finally fined my script and slide show. All I need to do is practice my script. I have learned a lot from this project and hope to learn more.  I think the hardest part was my script you had to make up what you were going to say and you would have to get people to edit your writing. Another hard part was the research here was not a lot of websites that had info about my question   The easiest part was finding a person to interview because there was a lot of people in the area. Another easy part was the the making the QR code.

Capstone #5

I finally finished my capstone research and finished answering my main inquiry. I have learned a lot throughout this project. For example, I learned that bakers use flavor, texture, and visual appeal to produce an edible art piece. I thought that baking was just a fun thing to do for a job. But I realized that wasn’t the deal. All that research did help. I found out that Kim Burnham creates designs an layouts. Throughout this process i learned a lot. And I hope you will to.

Science Centers #2

Today in class we did science centers. We conducted three experiments. Before doing the experiments we had to write down hypothesis We had 3 solvents and 1 solute. The solvents were vinegar, cooking oil, and water. The solute was the sugar.

Our first experiment was mixing sugar and water. My hypothesis was: If we added colored sugar and oil the sugar will stay separated from the oil then the sugar will sink to the bottom. After writing down our hypothesis we had to write down our observations my hypothesis was confirmed. the sugar was denser which made it sink to the bottom

Our second experiment  was water and  colored sugar. My hypthesis was : If we mixed the sugar in the water the sugar would disolve then the color from the colored sugar would spread.  We mixed it and my hypothesis was confirmed. The color spread to the water and the sugar dissolved.

Our last experiment was the vinegar and colored sugar. My hypothesis was : If we added the sugar to the water the color from the sugar would spread to the vinegar then the sugar would dissolve. After doing the experiment my hypothesis was half correct the color did spread but it got darker and the sugar did not dissolve it was still intact.

In conclusion I learned a lot of new things that I wouldn’t have known before.

Capstone #4

For the site visit, I visited Lulus cake boutique. Inside it was really pretty and decorated with pictures of cake and displayed. When I asked them if I could take pictures they weren’t sure so the lady asked the manager and he said yes. She first led me to the sections where the cakes were made there were big mixers for the buttercream and the batter they were huge. They also had trays that were filled with fondant that they use for cakes. Then they had trays of cake that were plain. She showed me the birthday cakes they were beautiful. After that, we went downstairs where all the big wedding cakes were. When we were done she gave me a free cupcake I got a vanilla cupcake with cookies and cream buttercream. Then my mom bought my brother a chocolate cupcake that had chocolate over the chocolate buttercream.
