CU-Blog Post For Australia

We started going to the library and researching the books that we picked out. My country is Australia. It is a country and a continent. Next we went on some databases. Politics, Social Aspects, Economics, Beliefs, and Cultural Arts are the five things that we list in our book. The names of our characters (tour guides) are Maddy and Ajene. Our favorite parts of doing our book is making our characters. What we found challenging was researching the sport that australians play especially cricket and rugby. We learned that we need to get a lot of information for a quick book because at first when you see an example you think it’s really easy but you need to look on databases and you can’t leaf through books, or else you might miss an important part of the book and you might think you’re done, but you have an important piece of information that you could have used for a fact box.

Blog Post #3 For Plants

For the past few weeks we have been pollinating our plants like an insect. What I mean is we transfer our plants pollen to another plants pistil. (the sticky part of the plant) after we planted we saw that seed pods were forming down the stem. When we acted like insects we rubbed cotton swabs on the stigma so we could get some pollen.

For our controlled our highest measurement was 11 cm and our lowest was 0 cm. Every plant was green. The most amount of leaves we’ve had so far is 10 and our lowest amount of leaves is 0. For our manipulated the highest measurement is 9 cm and our lowest measurement is 7 cm. The most amount of leaves that we counted is 20 leaves and the lowest amount of leaves is 7 leaves. All the plants were green.

I think the plants that have died are not going to come back, but I do think the ones that are healthy are going to grow fat, wide, seed pods. I also think that the healthy ones aren’t going to grow any longer, but I do think they’re going to stay healthy.

Blog Post #2 For Plants

This is our blog post #2  for plants. In our controlled we are growing flowers. Some of our plants are dying. The highest plant measures 11 cm. Our lowest plant measures 6 cm long. Most of our plants are green, but the ones that are dying are brown and dark dark green. Our healthy ones are bright green and have flowers. The change with our plants since the start is that in the start we had no flowers and not even buds.

For our manipulated the highest measurement we had was 11 cm. Our lowest measurement is 7 cm. Our manipulated plant didn’t really change much ever since we put it in front of the window sill, so I guess our hypothesis was correct. Our manipulated grew a lot since the beginning of when we started to plant our seeds. The highest measurement 15cm. Our lowest measurement is 5 cm.

My group works really well together. I think that our manipulated is still growing because it still has enough sunlight and other plants can still survive without having a lamp light to depend on. It also has been watered and has good soil.  Our group solved a problem our plants were wilting so we ask our teacher to give us something to support our plants. I wonder if natural sunlight is better than a lamp light?

Blog Post #1 For Plant

My group’s question for our plants is: Will our plant grow if we put it on a window sill with natural sunlight? Our hypothesis is: If we put our plant in front of the window sill to get natural sunlight our plant will still grow because it will have the brightest light in the world. Our controlled plant has good soil, fertilizer, mysterious seeds, lamp light, and water. Our manipulated has natural sunlight instead of the lamp light that our controlled has.

For our plant set up we first put in some wicks that act like roots for the plant so it can soak up all the water it needs to survive. Then a layer of good soil. Then we put in a few pellets of fertilizer for our plant to make it grow. Next we we put in another layer of soil, but not filling up the cell to the top because we need to plant the seed. We plant the seed and cover it with more soil. All we need now is some patience and water.

We have been recording the plant growth since day three of our science unit. We have noticed some serious growth on our plants ever since we started to grow our anonymous plant. On the first day we started to record our plants we saw that it was ½ centimeter, 2 leaves and was green. But on the seventh day of recording the plant it was 2 centimeters, 8 leaves and was green.

Next was the manipulating part. Our first idea was to put the plant in no sunlight. But some other group ended up with that idea so instead of have having  no sunlight we have “ Will our plant grow if we put it in natural sunlight? “ Our group is on our way to finding out our mysterious scientific question.

Maglev Response #3

For our first track that we created we used strip magnets. There were six magnets on the track. We stacked three magnets on each side of the track. For our train we used two strip magnets. Each strip magnet was placed on each side of the train.

One problem that my group faced is that our disk magnets didn’t work so we used strip magnets. Another problem that we faced is that our track wasn’t lined up with our train so we put the strip magnets on the track closer together and IT WORKED! 😀

Our final design has a lot of strip magnets. We have two layers of strip magnets on the track and one layer of strip magnets on the train. Everything worked out because everything was lined up perfectly.

I feel really frustrated in the beginning but learning from our mistakes help us improve our train which made me feel less frustrated. We still did not succeed. But we still have improvements to make.

My group in the EDP process! Still have some trouble with the train and the track.

Technology is…

Technology doesn’t have to be electronic but it can be something that can be made so it can make life easier. Technology is made of anything that can make life easier.

Ice cube trays are technology because it helps mold ice into really fun shapes. Ice cube trays make life better because everyone has a fridge and no one makes ice so you can make ice at home with an ice cube tray and not take a trip to the store. An ice cube tray is small but useful it can fit in a freezer so you can make ice and have a lot

An ice cube tray is made of plastic and can be colored, rigid, light, rough and pointed.
