Blog Post 6

I tried to add a question for multiple choice, and an images question. I found adding new codes to my text was hard, especially when I didn’t know that I had to put in extra codes(import UIKit)to make other text work.

Blog Post 5

One of the Commands sections that I did was the Bug Squash Practice. The code that worked that I did was this:

moveForward()

turnLeft()

moveForward()

moveForward()

toggleSwitch()

moveForward()

moveForward()

moveForward()

moveForward()

collectGem()

This code worked but I had some trouble figuring out what the exact instructions were, but I figured it out.

Music Video

I liked Maddy’s music video because it felt happy. The animation was cool because all five actors were doing different things. I also liked the music, because it reminded me of a farm, and because it went well with all of the other parts of the video.

Source: Dogo News

Article Date: June 14, 2019

News Type: World

Summary: Summer is getting closer and closer before our very eyes. Slowly, days are becoming shorter. And the longest day of the year, and the shortest night of the year is creeping up on us. The date this is happening is June 21, 2019. Because of the way planet Earth is tilted, makes different amounts of sunlight shine down on different parts of the Earth at different times. Like on June 21, the North Pole is facing the sun more than any other time of the year. There’s a Summer Solstice for the Northern Hemisphere, and a Winter Solstice for the Southern Hemisphere. And in Stockholm, Sweden, they get a 21 hour day! Fun Fact: Narendra Modi chose June 21 as the International Day of Yoga because it was the longest day of the year. Did you know that during Equinoxes, the Sun’s rays shine directly on the Equator? And the length’s of day and night are almost exactly equal in both the Northern and Southern Hemisphere’s!

Personal Response: I chose this article because I like to sleep in so I wanted to know what the excuse for not as much sleep was. Also, this article just seemed interesting.

Title: It’s A Boy! Prince Harry and Meghan Markle Welcome Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor

Source: Dogo News

Article Date: May 10, 2019

News Type: World

Summary:

Did you know that almost a year after Prince Harry and Meghan Markle got married, they had a little baby boy? May 6, 2019 was the birth of the new baby. He was 7 pounds, 3 ounces, and very healthy! People found out about this on Instagram on Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s account. This news was also revealed on a sign posted on the front doors of Buckingham Palace. The name of the royal baby is Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor. Archie is a nickname for Archibald. Archibald means bold, genuine, and brave. Archibald’s second name, is Harrison, which means “son of Harry,” is named after Prince Harry. People thought Archibald’s first name would be something different than it was because most royal babies were named after important British people in the past. A lot of people guessed the baby would be named Alexander, Spencer, James, Arthur, and also Theodore. But Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were happy with what name they chose. They didn’t stick to the tradition of naming the baby on a previous British person, they stuck to other traditions to make up. One of those “other traditions” included showing the baby to Archibald’s great-grandmother, 93-year-old Queen Elizabeth II, and her husband, 97-year-old Prince Philip. Archie is the seventh in line for the throne. He’s after Prince Charles, Prince William, and his three children, and Prince Harry! Though prince Harry is not likely to ever be king, they put hime in the line anyway.

Personal Response:

Title: Diet Drugs Seem To Make Mosquitoes Less Thirsty For Human Blood.

Article Date: March 28, 2019

Source: Dogo News

News Type: World

Summary: Female mosquitoes get food from our human blood. But they are also responsible for illnesses like yellow fever, Dengue, and Zika. Researchers have found quite a few solutions to this. A research team at New York’s Rockefeller University has an amazing new solution to keep away mosquitoes. They fill their stomachs with diet drugs to make mosquitoes less hungry for our blood. As the scientists studied, they used Aedes aegypti (ay’ dee’s agipti) mosquitoes to test on. The research team did a lot of testing on the female mosquitoes. They found out that once mosquitoes have had one serving of human blood, they don’t need it again for a little while. Later on, the team did a lot more studying and found out that the diet drugs only had a temporary effect on the mosquitoes.

Personal Response: I chose this article because I thought that it was really cool that drugs could temporarily stop mosquitoes from biting people. Also, I HATE MOSQUITO BITES!!!!

News Type: World

Summary: Romeo is a Sehuencas water frog who has a cool pattern on his skin, an orange stomach, and giant green eyes. Researchers think that Romeo is the only frog of his kind. Now they have just found Romeo a Juliet just in time for Valentines Day! Romeo started calling for a mate after about 12 months living in an aquarium at Bolivia’s Natural History Museum. Romeo has been calling out less, and less which makes people worry that he has lost all hope for love. People are helping Romeo by putting his profile on a website called Match.com, a matchmaking website. It didn’t attract any other frogs, but they raised $25,000 to help search crews look for a mate. On January 15, 2019, scientists finally found what they were looking for. Researchers were about to give up before they checked one more creek, which was where they saw a frog jump, which turned out not to be Juliet. It was another male Sehuences water frog. The researchers found a few more frogs, one of which, turned out to be Romeo’s age, so it was named Juliet. Now researchers are still searching, hoping for new discoveries.

Personal Response: I chose this article because right when I looked into the eyes of this super cool frog, I knew I wanted to do this article.

Article Date: January 20, 2019

Source: Dogo News

Summary: Coral reefs are really colorful and really important to Earth. Scientists know where reefs are, but they still don’t know how many different types of coral are out there. NASA is trying to excite people by making a fun video game. Ved Chirayath and his team now have a camera, the FluidCam. It can be attached to very small drones to take close-up pictures of coral systems and make 3-D images! If you play NeMo-Net, you start by learning how to map limits and textures of lots if coral, organize it, and move around the reef. To level up, you have to do a good job with the level they are on. You will soon be able to play NeMo-Net on your I-pad or phone.

Personal Response: I chose this article because I thought it was really cool that scientists are able to play video games while they are researching because I love technology. What do you think of my article?
