The date this is happening is June 21, 2019. Because of the way planet Earth is tilted, makes different amounts of sunlight shine down on different parts of the Earth at different times. Like on June 21, the North Pole is facing the sun more than any other time of the year. There’s a Summer Solstice for the Northern Hemisphere, and a Winter Solstice for the Southern Hemisphere. And in Stockholm, Sweden, they get a 21 hour day! Fun Fact: Narendra Modi chose June 21 as the International Day of Yoga because it was the longest day of the year. Did you know that during Equinoxes, the Sun’s rays shine directly on the Equator? And the length’s of day and night are almost exactly equal in both the Northern and Southern Hemisphere’s!
