4th Grade Reflection

In 4th grade I did many things. For example some projects that we did were colonial times, passion project, extreme weather project, toy theater and ecosystems project. My favorite one was the passion project because you get to pick any topic you want! The topic that I picked is Arctic Animals. I also loved the toy theater because it’s so fun to make the puppets and make the background.  We also did some great read aloud books. For example Book Scavenger and Blood on the River. Book Scavenger is a book about looking for Mr.Griswolds game. And Blood on the River is a book about what live was in colonial times. I really loved Blood on the River because it’s so interesting how the people were treated at that time and how people treated each other. Another read aloud that we did was The Tiger Rising. The Tiger Rising was about Rob the new kid at a new school that meets a girl name Siseten and they become friends.

In 4th grade had subjects like math, science, reading/writing and social studies. My favorite subject is math. This is because math fun when you get to work with a partner and when you to work in your math folder. I also really like math because of the feeling that you get when you get a really hard question.

Desert Ecosystem WeVideo

After we finished our blog post about our food web my class started to make a wevideo on the bad impacts that are impacting the desert. What I found that has a bad impact on deserts are how the deserts are becoming hotter. This is killing all the animals in the deserts. The wevideo had a lot of steps to it. The first step to making the wevideo is to research. After that was just that we went to wevideo and make a practice video and we just played around wit wevideo. The next step was we had to find information what are some bad things that are happening to the desert. The next step was to make a doc on what are we going to do once we get to the step of starting wevideo and in that doc we only used the words black, graphic, narration and call to action. After that we did  that we got a storyboard. A storyboard is something where you can lay out your ideas on a sheet of paper. After the storyboard I had to go into wevideo and we just started to get pictures lay it out. After that we did that again just we had to make it 1:00 min exactly. After that we had a talk about the importance of going back to the storyboard. After that we started working in class and making it look great! After that if we wanted to get better pictures we went to a site called search.creativecommons.org. That site made cheer that the pictures that show their are ok for you to use in wevideo. After that we learned how to put music and audio in our PSA. Last that we did was learn how to finish it and put it into drive.

I think the hardest thing I did was to finish it and put it into drive. This was hard for me because of all steps there was to it for example, how you had to press the finish button and then press the drive button and then share it with our computer teacher Mr.Casal.

I think the easiest thing in it was to make to doc because all you need to do is write the words black, graphic, narration and call to action.

Now this is my PSA:

Albert Einstein

Albert Einstein

ln 4th grade my class had to do a biography project. We had to pick a person and research that person. I picked Albert Einstein. Here is some interesting facts about him.

Albert Einstein’s Childhood

Albert Einstein was born in Ulm, Germany on March 14, 1879. He had a little sister named Maja. He loved Maja very much. When he went to school he was not the best student. He only studied subjects he liked. These subjects where science and math. He would cut class and in his free time he would study the subjects he liked or play the violin. One day his dad gave him a compass and that compass changed his life.  The compass changed his life by him realizing that no matter what way he was the compass would always face north.

Albert Einstein’s Adult Life

Albert Einstein barely made it through high school. He made it out by cheating off of his friend’s notes. He would cheat off his friends notes because he did not study all the subjects he needed the subjects he did not study he would cheat of of his friend Mercle Grossman. He also taught himself geometry when he was 12. When he was older he wanted to be a teacher. But the problem was none of his teachers recommend him. Because of that he could not get job Mercle Grossman helped again to get him a job at the Swiss Patent Office.

Soon he married a girl named Mileva. Later in life he divorced Mileva and remarried some else named Elsa.

He also was the most famous scientist of the 1900s. He won the Nobel prize in 1921 for a paper he wrote about how electricity acted like both a wave and a particle at the same time. In 1969 he posted his theory of general relativity which talked about how the force of gravity works.

Challenges that Albert Einstein Faced

Albert Einstein’s teachers hated him. They hated him because he studied only subjects he liked. This made them think why can’t he study all the subjects? Another challenge is that his home/job was taken away because of the Nazi government because he was Jewish. The last change is that he was involved with the atomic bomb making. Because of his equation E=mc2 lead to the making of the atomic bomb. When he found out this he was very upset that his idea was used in such a bad way.

How did Albert Einstein Change the World?

One why Albert Einstein changed the world is by writing the most famous equation in the world. That equation is the E=mc2. E stands for energy, M stands for mass, C stands for celeritas . He also wrote that nothing moves faster than light. And last is that he wrote 4 papers that changed the way people thought about feces. These papers were later called the Annus Mirabilis papers.

Desert Ecosystems

Deserts

Deserts are very important to the world. Many people think that there are not many deserts out there. If you think that then you’re very wrong. Deserts are so popular that they are found in every continent except Europe. Deserts are located everywhere, but the most famous desert is the Sahara desert. In the Sahara desert and many other deserts there are many producers, consumers, decomposers and more!

Some producers in the desert are cacti plant, melon, flower, prickly pear, desert sand verbena, Mojave desert star, kennedy’s mariposa lily and the desert pea. Now here are some consumers in the desert there are scorpions, spiders, Roadrunner, antelope, snake, fox’s, golden eagle, Gila woodpecker, cactus wren, desert locusts, ground beetle and lizards. Here are some decomposers (I have Very little information) termites and mushrooms.

Deserts are unique because many people when they think about deserts they think of a place that’s hot and that not many animals live in but both of those statements are wrong deserts can be hot or cold and that many animals live in it like I listed up above.

Colonial America Book Reflexion

I really liked the colonial america book project. But it takes a long pross to do it. For example 1st you have to do so research for 1 week or 1 week and a half, then you have to organise your notes for chapter 1 (All about colonial times) and so you know what you are going to write, then you have to write your 1st draft for your chapter 1, after that you have to organise your notes for chapter 2 (All about Colonial School), then you write your 1st draft for chapter 2,  after that you organize your notes for your chapter 3, then you write a 1st daft for your chapter 3, I know you’re thinking how many times is this kid going to say the same thing well 1 more so just hang in there. Then you write your 1st draft for you chapter 4, now you type it, after you typed at least a good amount of your book then my teacher read it and made some comments, then you have to finish typing, then look for pictures and last you organize it all in your book. It’s a lot of work we had to do (as you can tell) and my teacher wanted it done she said in 5 or 6 weeks. Thats why to finish you can’t talk or you will never finish.

I think that my favorite part of this project is doing the research because in that short part of time all my teacher said was get your book and go research and when you did research you had a lot of independent but for the other ones my teacher kept telling us: you have to do this because _________ or she would say: how you do _____ is ____________ that’s why I liked doing the research the best but I also really liked doing my chapter 3.

I think the most challenging part for me is organising the notes putting them on flashcards and gluing them in to the organiser. This was the most challenging part for me because you had to make a big distigon of what you want to put into your book.

I liked doing my chapter 3 because on my chapter 3 you had cud add a lot more creativity to it. For example on the chapter 3 you get to make up the plut the problem etc. You’ll see that once you read my book and that’s all I need to tell you I hope you read my book and like it very much and I hope you know how much work I put into this project.

I learned about myself as a writer that I never stop until I know it’s perfect. I released this just now because this project is very big and when ever I had the chance to reread it I did.

I learn about myself as a reader is that I’m really interested in colonial america school. If it was not for this project I would never think of even looking at a colonial america book.

If there was 1 thing different I would have done is to get a little more information about school in colonial times. I would do this because I think I could have some more information.

Thank you for reading this summary about my colonial america book I hope you like my book!

Colonial Day

In 4th grade we do colonial day. On colonial day you dress up like colonial people and do what colonial did at the time. My favorite one was dame school. Dame school was my favorite because you got to see how you would get treated. I realize the teacher would always do and spelling bees. The teacher would ask the girls questions like cat and hat. They asked me to spell philadelphia. I said philada but then they said I got it wrong so they made me hold a sign that said bit finger baby. My friend how to spell washington. He said wach and he got it wrong he said he mant wash but he still got it wrong. He held a sign saying tell-tale.

I learned that the colonial people dance to show off. We learned how colonial people dance. He’s a little bit of what I learned: You go back and forth. Then you put your hand close to someone else and spin around. Then you go back and forth again. That’s a little bit that I learned about colonial people.

I really want to learn that how the people get there clothing.

Colonial times are different from now, for example they were different clothing and they talk differently.

Curiosity Project – Arctic Animals

In 4th grade most people had to do something called a Curiosity Project. A Curiosity Project is something that you can do a project on what ever you want to do that project on.  You can do it on google slides, a poster or you can print it out and do it on paper. I did my on google slides!

I did my project on arctic animals because I loved animals and my favorite animals are for the arctic so I thought I would give it a try. I loved researching arctic animals I hope you like my slide show!

This is my curiosity project:

Plant Observation #3

Pollination

In the past 2 weeks my class pollinated are plants. If you pollinated a plant that means that you carried pollen from your finger onto hopefully onto the stigma which is the sticky part of a plant and when pollen and pollen mikes you get a seed!Knowing that my class found out that when we pollinated the flowers fell off and the stem got thick. Why do you think that happened? Well that happened because the stem is storing the seeds in the stem and the flowers are falling off because the plant already reproduced so it has no more uses.(This is my controlled plant the manipulated plant is totally dead.) Also if you want to pollinate your our plant all you have to do is touch each one of your plants to pollinate them. And there are ether pollinater’s ether than use, bats pollinate, ladybugs pollinate, hummingbirds pollinate, bees pollinate and even butterflies pollinate isn’t it cool how all these animals help the world and we don’t even know?

Manipulated

My groups plant manipulated is doing so bad that we just today threw it out in the trash. I thought why was it doing so bad? Could it be with the notes about it? I looked at the notes and I saw that on 5/19/17 it was ¼ of a inch tall, the soil was dry, 4 leaves and orange sproot but on the 22 all the plants were gone! It’s like someone stole all the plants in that quad (that were we put the plants in it’s called a quad because it has for sides and quad means 4) but someone could not have stolen my groups plants but then how did it get missing? I think the sugar water did it because that did not happen to the controlled plant and my group just gave it water, so it has to be because of the sugar water but why would the sugar water do this to a plant,a plant reproduces on sugar though why would the sugar water kill the plant? It does that because plants don’t reproduce on normal sugar it reproduces on its own sugar called glucose.

Controlled

My controlled plant is doing great! But the weird thing is that on 5/23/17-5/25/17 there were some brown leaves but why. Well we know that in the fall the leaves change color so we got our solution but it’s not fall so why would the happen? Could it be too much sunlight, because when we get to much sunlight we get tane and that’s close to brown. But plants can’t get too much sunlight so why would some of the leaves be brown? I found out that in leaves there’s something called chlorophyll with gives the plants leaves the color green. And when it gets cold the chlorophyll runs out and so brown yellow and orange are the real colors of a plant.

Prediction

My 1st prediction about my plant is that more leaves would fall off because I already pollinated our groups controlled plant and because I used to have 24 leaves but now I have 5 leaves left. My 2nd prediction is that the stem will get thicker because the plant is going to make more seeds if not already done. My 3rd prediction is that my plant is going to grow even more if we replant the plant because it’s a brand new fresh seed and because the plant was doing good and it is healthy. My 4th and last prediction is that my I think plant will start having wet soil because it has been happening for the past 3 days.

This is my manipulated plant.
This is my manipulated plant.

Plant Observation #2

My groups controlled plant is growing so much through the past weeks. My last post was about the things I saw 2 weeks ago, if you had not seen that, then read that 1st so the things I will be talking about will make more sense. Now back to my control plant, the plant grow so much more, the last time I checked the plant was 3 inches tall! last time it was only about 2 inches tall. And all the plants looked healthy but 1 of the plants had light green leaves and all the rest had about a good amount of shide with the green color, and when I looked at other groups controlled plants it was again a good amount of shide with the green color but 1 groups plant it was just like my groups plant. But why I think it’s because we might have gave it to much water but wouldn’t  that make it a darker color? Well actually I think it can make it lighter or darker depends on the plant. I still don’t know what it is but when I know I will write about it! My groups manipulated plant is still doing bad, it grew a little bit more but still the bottom line is that it needs real water not water sugar water. Right now the manipulated plant is about ½ of an inch tall, but are controlled plant 3 inches tall, the manipulated plant is nothing compared to the controlled plant. Now about the color, on of the plants that hadn’t grown yet  (I think that’s because there is a stick sticking out of that says M for manipulated and I thank it affected the plant not to grow till this week) it is right now orange! Now again my group looked at other groups but this time no group had what my group had. So we know that the sugar water made that happen but why? Well, we think that plants make a different kind of sugar but we don’t know. And there is one more observation that I will like to tell you, the observation that I will like to tell you is that for the manipulated plant and the control too most of the the days the soil was dry, I just wanted to throw that out to you, you probably were thinking it was going to be something big, but, sorry! Well if you’re still there I think that I have nothing there left to say so I hope you liked this essay.
