Book Clubs: Writing long on jots

Here are your Padlets for your Book Clubs. Use your Padlets to post your best jots then create a blog post on your blog to “write long” on one jot each Thursday night for homework.

SOCIAL ISSUES BOOK CLUBS :Use the following questions to help you think deeply and critically about the text and the social issues within in the story.

  • What are my character’s STRUGGLES/CHALLENGES?
  • How can I name those as Social Issues?
  • How does the character react to or deal with these issues? (Think: What do I know about this character? What may have caused him/her to act/talk that way?)
  • How did the character’s background, setting, relationships impact their actions/decisions?
  • What is FAIR or UNFAIR in this text?
  • Who is ACCEPTED or REJECTED?
  • Who has the POWER in this text? Who does NOT?
