Tis corona time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It’s true though. The corona virus is here, and clearly affecting all of us, as I being a housepet have never been inside this much. That’s bad. And I’m running out of videos to watch! I finally got a bike that fits me, becasue I outgrew the last one. My parents didn’t buy another one for me because this year I haven’t been exercising at all, but they bought it anyways, and it comes with the gear shift as well! A big step up! Anyways, I forgot how much I love to roam around the neighborhood, down hills at blazing speed. It really struck me as bringing back the good old days.
We did a lot this week, exploring wood tools in order to start our box. I quickly learned that their was some underlying process that we use to create a project, such as masure, plan, and cut with specific techniques. I’ll walk you through each one. First we had to measure our li, which I learned that I need to give slightly more room for my measurements than normal to account for the blade of the saw. Speaking of saws, I’m very scared of them, but I’m slowly encountering that fear and it becoming less scary. The cutting technique I learned wat hat you have to gently glide3 your hand across the wood with a saw, instead of push down on the saw when you are cutting, I’m assuming that’s because Of the friction. The week before break is always an exiting and extravagant time-especially in technology! I am really getting immersed into a whole new world, and I’m proud to show you this week!
Let’s start with an activity that I had to persevere through-tinkercad. I was very intrigued the moment I heard that what I was going to make would be 3D printed-and boy did that get me hooked! I was following a YouTube tutorial that I found (since the one linked on Schoology was an invalid link😭😭) on how to print a name tag so vigorously and close to detail that I made barely any progress in the first day, but the second day I rearranged my strategy, and I would follow as well as I could’ve. That worked out much better, but in the end I learned from M’s Girox that I didn’t need to finish all of it-so I left it at that. I get that the assignment tested my knowledge on tinkercad, and I now I know I understand tinkercad way under the level the tutorial guy I found understood it. This tinkercad project was super fun, and definitely the highlight of my week in technology.
Secondly, I made a sketch of the dimensions of my box that I will soon design-I am sure this is a popular and highly requested project from most students-and I wonder why-because don’t you have a box already? What would be the use of another box? Anyways, I had lots of trouble trying to render the box in 3D on notability (shout out to Apple Pencil with silicone cover that helped me sketch), so I turned to just making 6 2d rectangles and giving the specifications that way. That made it harder to later submit my order for Oreos on the google form, because I couldn’t envision how my dimensions in each 2d rectangle I drew would add up to a 3D model of it, making it harder for me to complete the form-but everything turned out ok! I am kind of exited about using the machines yet to come. As for now, I’m gonna do something else. I’ll see you blog next week, and many more to come. From your poster,

In Thursday’s class. We are exploring would by using a A screwdriver to screw in the wood. This got us familiar with some basic tools and how to interact with them. To be honest I really never done something like that before, but I’ve seen a screwdriver before, don’t worry. although it was the first time I’ve ever encountered a vice. It was interesting to be sort of in the world of a real sort of woodshop, Especially since my babysitters husband owns a woodshop is very passionate about that, so it was nice to understand this new world to me. The only workout time is really just touching his last laugh to technology and doing all sorts of but I’ve never really had such a hands-on experience before.
I think over this quarter i´ve experimented and learned a lot about how technology interacts with life, and ivé been experienced new things, especially how circits work. Its amazing how thomas edison had 10,000 fais before he made a sucessful flashlight. insperation and failure is everywhere. This class taught me about life, and Iḿ happy to have Mr. Calvert here with us. thanks to the class.
flashlights do involve some of the more interesting article physics. we learned about how electrons pass, transist, and insilate. the circuit took some time, and I saturedthe wires together by accident, so Mr calvert had to use a suction device, that was mechanical, which I was wondering without a battery, how does the pipe suck in air? any ideas?
I finished my flashlight about half a week ago. it was a good experience, because I burned myself once, somehow lost my flashlight a couple of times, and reedid my diagram. I think I need to be more careful ingeneral.
mechanical work is not my thing. i get scared half the time, and almost sawed myself. I got some help from maxwell when I was saturing though. that was a good experience, and I learned how to confidently sautre. it was a new and somewhat enjoyable experience.
In computer tech for the last 4 days, we have been trying to make a lightbulb, starting with the diagram. Each a square contains .5”, making the measurements nice and easy. Planning really helps me see through how he final reject will look like. We used saws and delta drill presses to cut the holes. Now al I have to do is work with some electrons and circits!!!
