Crispin: The Cross of Lead

In our Historical Book Club Group, we are reading the book Crispin: The Cross of Lead, By Avi. The book is about a boy in the town of Stromford, in 1377 A.D.  He only got to learn his name at the age of 13, after his mother died because he freaked out, ran into the forest, heard something that the steward, John Aycliffe, talked about to a stranger. Aycliffe spotted him in hiding, and he attempted to kill him. In the afternoon, Crispin Later that night, he came out of hiding from the steward, and went to find the only man he could trust in this desperate village, the Priest by the name of Father Quinel. The priest told him to run the next night after he told him a lot about him, his parents, and about what he should do after he left. His mother’s name is Asta, his name is Crispin, and his weak mother could read and write. The next night, Crispin was supposed to  be met by Father Quinel, but instead he was met by a boy slightly older by the name of Cerdic. Clearly something was wrong right? Well how could Crispin know. Cerdic told him to go west, but it was a trap. Crispin got into so much trouble after. But after all the difficulties getting out of town, he was exausted and when he was far enough from the village he slept. By morning, Crispin was far out of town. He was also starving. He traveled on and on and on, until at last he came to a village. He thought it was inhabited, but it was actually dead due to the plaque a couple years back. After exploring the village a bit, he came to a house with a man inside. This man is a juggler who was often called Bear.
