This year has made me think about a lot of things. I have realized how lucky I am, people in the world are struggling much more than me. However, sometimes I get sad because I won’t be able to go to Korea this year. Korea is like home to me, it is where my mom was born and lived until she came here for graduate school. Just being there makes me happy, I love the music, especially the group BTS, and i love the culture. We pretty much go there every year, so this summer is going to be hard, knowing that I won’t be able to be there. Another thing I can’t believe is the fact that I will be going into 8th grade next year! It seems like yesterday when I moved into Scarsdale and I was a nervous wreck when my bus came. A lot of things have happened back then, and I can’t believe how fast time goes. This school year was intresting, and something I will never forget and make sure too pass the story on.

Thank you

Hello and welcome back to my blog, and today I think it’s very important to talk about a serious issue. As I’m sure most of you know, there has been a lot of events involving race. We are all equal. There shouldn’t be the need for other people to be hurt and treated differently just because of their skin color. We should all have a fair chance in life, and when I found out what happened with George Floyd, I got very mad because it is just not right for a precious life to be taken away just because of a person’s skin color. I saw a video of George Floyd’s daughter, and she was saying, “daddy changed the world”, and that really was so cute and also heartbreaking, because she lost her father, but she is still looking at the positive side. Another problem is the police violence, this case isn’t the only one, there are so many, and it needs to stop. The police are abusing their power to hurt other people. However, there is no bias, not all police are bad. That is something we should all think about.

Again, this is just my opinion, and I didn’t mean to offend anyone.

I think I would do it, but not right away. Once I had a lot of the materials, then I would go because if you went every time that would take too much effort. After collecting all the materials, then I would go. I would go because I think that too much plastic is being wasted and it really hurts animals. Even if it takes a little more effort, we should try our best to keep our world healthy, and makes sure that plastic is not thrown out. The only extra energy and effort is too drive to that place that recycles your certain plastic, and that doesn’t take much effort. You don’t have to go every time you use the item, but over time collect it, and when it gets full, recycle it.

For me, I use a lot of material that was in the number 5 and 7 category and I think that’s because I eat food that is in that category such as fruit and meat. I see many containers for me. I think that when companies decide what type of material they want to use, they want to use materials that can hold for a purpose of the item they are selling. They want to make sure the item is in it’s best shape and that it doesn’t get damaged when the customer receives it. Once we finish using these items, we recycle it, the plastic gets melted and it gets reused. Even if the plastic is not bendable, by melting it we can reuse it. I think that I try to not use that much plastic for things that can be made for longer time purposes such as forks and knives. By using a metal one, it lasts longer, and we don’t waste it.

Something that interests me about the human made world is coding and how we calmed up with these machines to program them. It amazes me how we discovered how to make phones, or really complex apps. Millions of years ago we didn’t have anything and had to live off eating eachother, but now we made these complex products. Another thing that interests me are calculators, I have always wondered how they are made, did they have to enter every possible equation in the world? Certainly they did not do that since that would take a very long time, and all the possible equations are infinite. That means they had to code the calculator, and I think that is just fascinating since how do you code something for something that’s infinite? Another thing is Siri, which a couple of years ago came out, I remember playing with it, and wondering how it knew everything. Siri is also coded to look up something once you ask it, and I think that that is really cool.

Hi! This is another post, and I will be answering question 2.

I think that it was much harder to work without technologies like syline logging because technology makes things much easier for us, and without the syline logging, you need to put much more force and time. It was probably much more dangerous because you have to move the logs up with your own hands, but thanks to the technology today, we don’t need to do that. Technology helps so that people don’t need to do work for that, the machines help you. However people today should be careful in the machines, because if something goes wrong, then they could get hurt. You can imagine without it, that it was very time consuming and probably damaged their bodies with all work. Some tools or materials the might have used were maybe a bucket to hold it in, or some object that allowed for the logs to be in, when they move them up. I would want to create a technology that instead of pushing the soil, there could be something that doesn’t hurt the soil, but we could still use the syline logging.

Thank you for reading this post!

I think girls communicate through messaging because they like to think it through before they say anything. They are cautious about what they are going to say, and then later ask their questions. I think maybe boys speak up more because they might not be as cautious and like to speak up once an idea pops inside their head. I think that girls however, should still participate more. The boys might also like to communicate through a video, and not a email.

Hi I’m Chloe! Today I will be talking to you about building.
To build something means to create something, construct, use materials to form something It can look like anything, but it is made with different objects. Building is something that we do in our daily lives, sometimes we don’t realize it. Building helps stretch your imagination so you can create something that someone else hasn’t thought about. Building I think is something that I do a lot, I don’t do it any more but I used make a lot of things with my legos when I was young, whether it was following the directions I was given, or just making something random and new. Pretty much everything that is around us involved building. For example, your dining table, or just a chair in your house. Someone constructed that, used materials, and created a chair. I have built many things, but one thing I built last year in tech in 6th grade was an automata, and I did it on a Niffler from the movie fantastic beasts. I still have this project, since it is something I really cherish. (I put it in the images). This project took a long time, we needed exact measurements, but in the end it was worth it. There was a lot of cutting involved, cardboard, decorating, and more. I did this mostly by myself, but Mr.Calvert helped me, and my friends helped decide on the character Niffler. Building is more fun when you have other people help you and give you new ideas. I remember I didn’t know what I wanted my automata to be on, but my friend suggested a Niffler, since they knew I watched the movie. I thought it was a perfect idea. I think building helps ease your mind, because you always become focused when you do it. I hope you enjoyed this post!

Response on World #1 – U.S. company ‘pretty confident’ coronavirus vaccine can be created

Since the corona virus started, China has been needing a vaccine for this virus. At least dozens of confident scientists at the companies including Johnson and Johnson, Moderna, Inovino, and more have started to make a vaccine that will help for a long time and work. This vaccine will be needed to be made from scratch, similar to the Zika virus. Scientists are rushing to make a vaccine since the number of people having the virus is increasing. Some groups that are working to find the vaccine includes The Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness Innovations (CEPI). They have taken part of this project and paid 3 companies 12.5 million dollars. Another group, The University of Queensland in Australia is hoping to have the vaccine made by the next six months. The people right away who would get it would be the people that have the virus. Lastly, Anthony Fauci, director of the U.S. National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases said that they wish to get part of the vaccine done within three months. In conclusion, companies all around the world are trying to make a vaccine for the corona virus in the least amount of time.

My opinion on this article is that it is a good thing that many companies are trying to find a vaccine for this virus. We are also very lucky that we have scientists to do this for us. If this virus started centuries ago, many wouldn’t know what it was, how to deal with it, and many would die. Even though some are dead sadly, now less people will suffer from this virus than the people would have back then. In addition, now people around this world have been alerted about this virus. People back then wouldn’t have known and wouldn’t have the technology to tell people around the world. I think we are very lucky to have vaccine’s made, including it might take even less than a year to make it. Additionally, I am very happy that many people are contributing to this project and spending money, time and effort. We are all working to make sure everyone is safe and healthy.

Technology Quarter

November9

We had a lot of fun this quarter in technology. We learned a lot of important rules, learned how to make circuits, solder people, flashlights, automatas, and more! Here is a overview on what we learned in this exciting, fun, quarter. Safety is always important in the technology classroom, and Mr. Calvert taught us that in many ways. Some things we learned was always make sure that the hot glue gun is turned on low, not high. This is because if you get burned and the hot glue gun is turned on high, then your injury will be very bad. Also, always make sure you are wearing safety googles, they are very important to make sure nothing goes flying into your eye, or you get hurt of some sort. In this quarter we made a variety of project, which were very fun. We used also a variety of tools such as saws, solder, drill presses, and more! I thank Mr. Calvert for all the fun, helpful tips on our projects, and making sure we had a fun, exciting quarter! Thank you Mr. Calvert!!!😀😀
