Starting Technology Class – pt 1 – (Tech Class)

Hello everybody! Recently I have switched quarterlies and I am now in technology class, and I am pretty happy! We started class with learning about glue and the origins of the adhesives, and how they evolved over time. In the lesson we also learned about how glue sets, and how rain affects different glue. It was very interesting and enjoyable. I believe we learned about the power of adhesives for upcoming projects that we are going to do, for we learned how to bond things using glue and how long it takes to set. I am excited for the next few months, there is going to be a lot of fun projects and things to learn about.

I hope you all are well.

Feature Articles – Starting the unit

A new unit is here! In writing, we are being journalists and writing about Heathcote school! So far, it’s been awesome! We are working towards writing enough articles to make a whole 5R newspaper! First we had to chose topics. (We’ve been assigned a partner to work with) Our topic was absences, and the law about them. We chose this topic because people aren’t exactly educated on the law of absences. We had to research a BUNCH. We took down notes and websites that tell you information. We scheduled interviews and will soon do them. We lied out the first layouts of what the article gonna look like, and surveyed lots people on our topic.

Overall, the start of the unit was really fun, but really busy. We’ve been doing so much this past two weeks, I may have forgotten to list some of the things we did! I wouldn’t say this unit is going to be hard, but I wouldn’t say it is going to be easy. I am looking forward to the next part of this unit!

Colonial America – pt 1 – Overview

In class we are doing a colonial america reenactment. As you might guess, we chose something to colonize. I chose New England. So we picked our jobs, did a bunch of note taking and are now setting up our colonial backstory. Our teacher told us to not make the backstories that sad but some of us didn’t follow the directions…. Anyway, things have been going great. I am happy with my job as a governor, and I am really happy with my colony’s name, Rockwood. Also, we made a “charter” and covered it with brown paint, so it would look old. Funny, isn’t it? We made a map of Rockwood, and I am happy to say it looks pretty good. We are working together well, and after a week of no activity we are stating to kick off again.

This has been my favorite unit yet. It’s so independent! Our teacher is not doing anything. I also loved this unit because I can impersonate someone from 1607. (Which is awesome). We can make character traits that we don’t have our self. I always loved and found Colonial America very interesting.

But I think its going to be difficult working together. I have learned that this class is not very good at working together. We already had a few mishaps, but I think this is going to go okay, maybe. Well, we may have had more than a few mishaps….. I’m trying to keep everything organized, like “who’s notes are who’s” and “don’t delete some else’s stuff”. Those kind of things.

In my other blog post, Colonial America – pt 2 – Persona, you can see my person’s backstory and laugh your head off!
