Capstone #7 Capstone Share

The Date— Was I scared—-The Day Before—- the Day— My Ted Talk— The kids atitude towards my talk—-Where were people sharing there artifacts/TedTalk——The 2nd Day—-My TedTalk—-The parents attitude towards my talk—Which one was better 1st or 2nd—-

The day before my Capstone Share, I was sick of my self, because I have practiced my TEDTalk so many times. I was getting a headache of listening to my self say the same thing over and over non stop. While practicing I was scared I was going to mess up, make a fool out of my self, or something was not going to work. For example the video would not play, or I would forget to say something.

Day 1 of our capstone share.

I thought I did great in my TEDTalk. I only made one or two mistakes. I worked my way around my problems. For example, during my TEDTalk I forgot to say my main inquiry question. I said it after why I picked marketing films instead of before.

I thought a few of the kids were a little disturbing because, first of all they  were talking. And second of all, when I had two videos one of the kids said “ugh another video” other then that I thought they were great.

Day 2 of our capstone share.

“I’m half way done only a few more hours left” I kept saying to myself.

Making My Final Project #6

After I finished answering my main inquiry question. I started to work on my final project. I had a lot of ideas. My first idea was a talk show which my teacher said I could not do. Then I wanted to show a talk show where I would ask random people (people in my school) questions to answer my main question. My teacher, well said no to that.  So then I was left with a TedTalk. I started my TedTalk. After my I got to my fourteenth slide I had no more ideas. I was not the only one who was stuck on needing more slides, my friends were also stuck. Then I thought of an idea to add my  Interview and site visit. after that I was at slide number seventeen. So I decided to make highlights of my interview with the video I took. Then I used a app that Ty told me about and made another one of my interviews in cartoon form because I did not inteerview him in person.

I started to practice. It was not long enough. It was about 3-4 minutes. And I knew it was supposed to be way longer then that. I did it again but it was only a few seconds longer.

We went to the computer lab and I watched other people do there TedTalks to see how I can improve mine. In my head I made a list of what I should do and what I should not do. Here is the list.

Should do

  • look at the audience
  • be conversational
  • Talk slow
  • Stand on  the side of the screen

Not Do

  • not look at the audience
  • stand in the middle of the screen
  • stand stil
  • talk really fast

then when I was in the computer lab the intern Ben said something very interesting he said that when you are doing a TedTalk or a presentation or something in front of a big audience you tend to talk really fast even when you think you are  talking slow. So you have to talk as if you are in slow motion and you ate really talking normal in real life. Ben said you tend to do this because you are nervous and you want to get it done with so you say it as fast as you can.

I went back to the drawing board for my TEDTalk. Or in this case Google slides. I re did it and it was 4-5 minutes but that was not enough. I asked someone to read my presentation and look at me do it. They said slow it down. I slowed down and it was at 7-8 minutes and that was exactly what I needed.

The day I shared I was nervous. I shared it in front of the class to get feedback. I was ready. I thought of the list I made for my Do do and don’t do.  I went over it again and did everything that it said to do and not to do. I printed out my script and was pumped but terrified. I walked up on stage well the rug and performed it went really good I just made 1 or two mistakes . I got stuck and lost my spot on one of the slides but it was good.

I called on some people and they gave me feedback. One person said, I like how you made the Everton (the app that you put stuff into cartoon form) another person said, They liked how I did not say I’m or like very much and I had good eye contact.

Then we went on to my teachers. She said it was great I just needed to delete part of my highlights because it was to long. She said overall it was great.

I asked my teacher how long my Ted talk was she said like 9 minutes and 48 seconds.i did not even play all of the video I only played about one minute.

What do I wish I did?

TEDTALK

IGNITE

IMOVIE:

TALK SHOW IN A STUDIO

TALK SHOW ON THE STREET (Described up at the top of this post)

Ignite:

I don’t think a ignite would be my best because talking for 3 minutes would not be enough time to answer my question and with the slides changing every 15 seconds. I don’t think so because I like to talk a lot and go into deep detail.

IMovie:

I don’t think making a iMovie because I want to practice for middle school on presentations. And I don’t think a talk show would be the best way.

How do I think I did?

I think for my TEDTalk I did great and If I could change something it would be to just try and memorize it more and not be looking at the paper and be looking at my audience. Good thing it was just a practice and not the real one.

Was my TEDTALK easy or hard?

My TEDTALK was easy for the majority of the time but every now and then it was a little challenging. Some of the challenging parts were when I was stuck on making new slides and I had no more ideas and when the whole TEDTALK was not long enough.

I had fun with my TEDTALK and can’t wait to perform live in front of a big audience and lots of parents.

Capstone #3: Site Visit

After the Interview I asked Jared if he could give me a tour of United Entertainment Group. He said yes and off we went.  Right outside his office was a mini stage and on the wall was signatures for bands who performed. I did not know any of the artists/bands but I thought it was really cool. On the stage there was a piano and 3 guitars. They would have bands perform for them.  We moved on. We walked down a hallway with a lot of pictures of celebrities pictures on the wall. Some of them were, Carmelo Anthony, Taylor Swift, Pink, Rocky, Rihanna and more. Then we passed by there cafe. In the cafe they had some video games like the ones they have at arcades the game was called NBA JAM. The only thought that went through my head was why do they have video games. Does anyone really play the games? Then we saw the “War Room” I don’t know why it’s called that but it is. So I asked him what is in this so called “War Room” he answered it’s the room where we brainstorm Ideas. He told me that’s why we don’t have anything on the walls or anything that can distract someone. When I looked in the room all they had was a notebook a desk and a chair. While we were walking I saw a jersey that had the Cheetos logo on it. I asked Jared  what it was and he said it was the Harlem Globetrotters but for soccer and that is how they are sponsoring Cheetos. The team is called  Los Cheetahs which means The Cheetahs. They go around to different states and perform tricks. Jarrod gave me a few things to bring home for the project. Jarrod moses gave me a film making scene marker, Box office sales of the week. He gave me a movie script of rocky, the Empire State, he gave me a book called Hollywood deal making, he gave me the script of Snow White and the huntsman, he gave me a step by step on how a film is made, the script of Marmaduke, he gave me a sweatshirt, a hat, and gave me special edition shoes. I had a great experience and learned a lot!

Capstone #4 Interview

Social media plays an important role! What did you learn? What surprised you? Reflect more, please.

Jarrod Mosses:

When I Was thinking about who I was going to interview the first person who came to my mind was Jarrod Moses. I picked him because he was in the advertising business and he helps market movies and TV shows.

I made the appointment with him. The interview and site was scheduled for May 26. I was really looking forward to interviewing him. I predicted that It was going to go exactly how it went.

So on May 26 I went into the city and I interviewed Jarrod Moses the CEO of United Entertainment Group. I had a lot of fun. I thought the interview was a big success. One reason is because I think he really had a great answer for my questions. I also thought it was a great success because I am family friends with him and I felt I was more comfortable. In the beginning we settled down we talked about some random stuff. And then we got to business. I asked him my questions he responded in depth answers.

I really learned  a lot. Something that surprised me is that Social Media has a bigger role in marketing movies then I thought. I really enjoyed it.

This is a screen marker he gave me. They use it in movies and they open the top and close it and say scene 4 take 12. They thought of the scene marker because after they close it its acting as you crop that part out and its cutting it.

Capstone Blog Post #2

Creating my Main Inquiry was a little difficult. It was only hard because my main question was too broad. I kept narrowing it down. I was pushing the limits on what could be my question. After I got my main question I did some research.

My Main Inquiry question is: How has the making and marketing of films evolved?

Then in class my teacher went over a new lesson, about sub questions. My sub questions are:

Olympics TFK

The Olympics games will be hosted in Brazil. And it will cost 11 billion dollars! I think that is a lot of money just for a event that happens once every four years! I think that is crazy. I think that they will make back that money from advertisement, tickets, food, jerseys, etc. I think that it is cool how golf has not been in the Olympics for about 100 years. I think it is nice of them to make a Olympics for disabled people. There are supposed to 4.3 billion people watch the Olympics. I would follow Swimming or Soccer because those are my two favorite spots.

Capstone #1

When I realized that everyone had there question and I had multiple, I thought I need to up my game and make a decision quick. So I went back to my last with a billion ideas and thought, What really interests me? But than I realized all of them do or else they would not be on the list. Than I thought what would my top 5 stations that I would go to if I saw someone else doing that topic. So I crossed out, Soccer History because I knew a lot about and I wanted to learn something new. I also crossed out Apple because I think a lot of people are doing it. But than after my teacher talked about what a good question should be, I crossed out, How has technology effected the world because I thought It was to big of a topic because there are so many ways technology effected the world.

Politics Article

The Link To The Article

I picked this article because I was interested in who Donald Trump was going to pick for his Vice President. I thought that Chris Christie was his Vice President for sure until I read that article. I thought Chris Christie no doubt. After I read the article I realized that there were about  5 people who have a chance of being Donald Trumps Vice President. I went back and looked at the names and I saw Marco Rubio (5), John Kasich(4), Joni Ernest(3), Rick Scott(2), and Chris Christie(1). I narrowed down that Marco Rubio and John Kasich are probably not going to be his Vice President.

In the Article “Donald Trumps Vice President Pick is anyone’s guess,” written by Chris Cillizza from the Washibngton Post. They talk about how no one knows who Donald Trump will pick. They also talk about how Donald Trump wants someone who has experience in Politics even though Donald Trump does not. Over all I think this article is great for learning about Politics.

I Wish

I wish I can see him again.

I wish he would come back just for me.

I wish I could tell him what it’s like without him.

I wish so hard but it won’t come true.

Blog Reflection:

I wrote this poem about my best friend who moved away. His name was Adam. Even though I did not mention his name this poem was for him. One reason why I did not mention his name is because some people do not know him. Another reason is because it was not just meant for him but it was meant for anyone who knew someone close to them that has moved away. My lesson of my poem that I am trying to get across is that you should be nice to the people  you like because they might not always be there for you.
