October 13th, the most unlucky day of the year. Well, at least for Mrs. Coopers class in 5th grade. It was math day. On math day Heathcote Elementary School does something called…the estimation jar!. It was last call for guesses, and worrying of the students began. Mrs Cooper’s class guessed a number ”90 x 15 um.. um… 1450” but when the results were final for the estimation jar, NAOMI FISHER REALIZED AN ERROR! “Mrs Cooper You did the math wrong.” “You were off by…100!.” But before the kids could say anything…“in first place we have Mrs. Edwards class””Woooooo” “in second place we have Mrs. Coopers class” in 3rd place we have Mrs. Kazanecki class” “and the estimation jar is 1340” Mrs styles our principal announced. SCREAMING BEGAN “WE WOULD’VE WON IF IT WASN’T FOR THAT ERROR” Naomi Fisher quotes clearly it wasn’t enough to get second. The class was disappointed and the madness began. The teacher was laughing, the kids were screaming. But a very valuable lesson was learned that day. According to Sarina Mehta in Mrs Cooper’s class, she quotes “You shouldn’t rush important work because it can turn into careless mistakes”
