Title: Ancientย  Network Of Massive Termite Mounds in Brazil are “Biological Wonders”ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย Article Date: 2019, April 4th

Summary: Termites are bugs that build mounds of dirt as their homes. They have chimneys, or holes, for temperature fit for their Termite Queen (who I wouldn’t wanna serve). In Brazil things are different. The over 200 million mounds with 30 ft wide and 6-13 ft tall structures in Brazil are unique. These mounds don’t have chimneys. They are just mounds of dirt tossed aside carelessly by termites building paths. Roy Funch first noticed the mounds of dirt 3 decades ago. Recently scientists discovered, after farmers were trying to clear out land for grazing, that these mounds of dirt occupied an area the size of US state Oregon! Determined to find out more, they examined and realized that nothing was inside them! Wow!

Personal Response: I chose this article because I wanted to know how gross termites could be ‘wonders’ I still don’t think they are.
