Capstone Final Blog Post

Capstone is maybe one of my least favorite projects this year. I need to sit everyday and just stare at a screen, while inserting images and making scripts for my WeVideo. Capstone is the biggest project in 5th grade, and the biggest project in the year. We had 2 months to work on it, and it’s due the 18th, in a couple of days. This is my final blog post. The most enjoyable part of my project was researching soccer. I learned a lot more about soccer, and I can now understand a lot more about soccer than I did before. Now I know what chances do I have of winning the World Cup, (pretty low), and how can my favorite team succeed at the World Cup. The biggest challenge I faced while doing this project is coming up with an interview. First, I was late for the interview itself. Then, I started to list some soccer experts from media companies like ESPN, Sky Sports, and NBCSN. Finally, I found an expert and emailed him. The chances were really low of him responding, but he saw my email, and responded to me. We had a zoom meeting, in which he explained a lot about my questions, etc. https://docs.google.com/document/d/1yexrkDiLJki-6G_c1nL9wcOqPemvN22sY4KamHo_6tI/edit The answer to my main inquiry question is simple. You need population, talent, good fans, media, and most of all, luck. You need luck. The World Cup isn’t like the Champions League, you have 1 bad day, you need to pack your things and go home. As simple as that. But there are some other important factors. For example, a country like Brazil, with nearly 215 million people, is really likely to find 11 good guys at a certain sport to compete in the World Cup. And, young talented players become good players, so you definitely need good and star players to win the World Cup. You need supportive fans, since many teams started to lose at home after Covid-19, when fans werent allowed to the stadium. And, you need the media not to ruin your players and talents. So in conclusion, you need lots and lots of luck, talent, population, and good media to win the World Cup. Also, you might not want to be an underdog to win.

Capstone blog post #1

Capstone is the biggest project of 5th grade. We have 2 months of research, then we will make a huge presentation. We will also have to get experts to interview. I feel pretty good, since I can choose any topic I want to, and it’s going to be the last presentation of the year. I feel good. First, I wanted to do a presentation on soccer. But then Ms.Cooper told me that you need to research something you’re unfamiliar with. Then, I thought about parts of soccer I am unfamiliar with. How to win the World Cup, how to win the Ballon do’r, etc. But then, I came up with an idea “the rise and fall of Socialism in the world.” then I chose How to win the World cup rather than the Ballon Do’r. Afterwards I was debating myself on the World Cup and the rise and fall of Socialism. I chose the World Cup. Soccer is my favorite thing in the world. I want to be a soccer player when I grow up, and I want to know everything about it. So I chose the World Cup. First, I wanted to make my sub questions find the answers for my main inquiry question. Like fans, media, performance, club and international level, etc. I came up with the best sub questions I could, the sub questions that suited my topic. The sub questions I came up with were: 1. How does the media affect the players’ performance? 2. What’s the history of players that won the World Cup? 3. How do fans affect the players’ performance? 4. What role do other tournaments play in getting a team to succeed at the World Cup? 5. How does a player’s performance at club level impact their performance at international level?

Rube Goldberg Blog Post #2

My Rube Goldberg project was 1 day due, I thought I fini9shed my blog post but I didn’t, and finally I finished my Rube Goldberg project. My Rube Goldberg project was to open my door, slice an apple, and give my dog a piece of cheese. My dad gave me a list of words that I should say, I dont know why because I could do it myself, and I could just say the steps without the words. Here is the link for my Rube Goldberg project video:

Rube Goldberg final blog post

My Rube Goldberg project went pretty good. Though I was late on 1 day, happily my blog post isn’t late. I made 5/8 steps, and my dad made 3/8. It was because we were running out of time. My dad told me to rehearse a little bit, though I didn’t want too, since I didn’t really have to, I just had to go through the steps, I still did it. I had exactly 8 steps. Another thing that I did was use my dog as a simple machine, my dad told me that one too. Simply my dad told me the ones that would make me look smart. We stayed up all night trying to fix the project/ My sketch was almost fully different, but there were some similarities. Anyways, my door opened, and my simple machine went good.

Cappstone Blog Post #1

My Cappstone project is doing good, I have chosen my final research topic, “What does it take to win the World Cup?” I decided to pick my favorite thing, soccer, and research some new things about it. I have 5 sub questions, here are all of them: 1: How does the media affect the players performance? 2: How many good players should be on a team for them to win the World Cup? 3: Do fans affect the players? 4: Do team performances in  other tournaments/friendlies affect or tells us something about how they will play? 5: Does a players performance at a club let us know it will be the same at international level? I am planning to research as much as possible from all the top soccer news articles, like sky sports, espn, marca, etc.

Reflecting on my WeVideo

It went pretty bad for me. First, I didn’t have time to finish it. Well I did, but I only began working on it only when I had 1 day left to finish it.

I finished the entire WeVideo on the day I had to finish it. I finished the audio, and submitted it. Afterwards, I thought the audio and the images matched because it looked so on the WeVideo, but I was wrong.  I would rate my WeVideo project experience as, not so good. Or simply bad. Because the WeVideo wasn’t very good.

Reflecting on my interview.

My interview went pretty good. Though I did do it 1 day after the due date, I was still able to finish it. I had 16 questions, though it was 1-15. I had some different questions with similar. Some questions were similar with different answers. Some of the questions didn’t have an answer, because my dad either forgot or either couldn’t explain it. Though most questions had an answer. Now that I am finished with my interview, I will start working on my WeVideo. One thing I learned from my interview was that apparently some of my family relatives, like my aunt, immigrated to America before my dad. And that the first thing my dad saw when he came to America was an aiport, so he came here on an airplane, and I’ve always thought that he came here on a boat.

Constitution blog post 1, 2, &3.

The reason I chose this amendment was because it wasn’t such a popular one. Everyone was doing the 1st amendment, the 14th amendment, the 17th amendment, and the 13th amendments. I decided to do the 11th amendment since I never saw or heard anyone talk about it. I just decided to learn more about it since no one else wants to learn it.

My research process was going on Wikipedia, Ballotmedia, and other websites. I of course noted all of the obvious facts, and the once that were given, but I also dug into reading the entire pages for more information.

Overall I think it went pretty good. I had a lot of facts and research. Though I was past a lot of assignments, I still remembered a lot of my information if not all of it.
