Throughout this project I have had one big challenge I have had to face. It was that the stock market is a hard topic to understand and that all of my resources were complicated and tough to read. I overcame it by re reading all of the articles over again if I didn’t understand it and if I had a question I would ask my dad for help. One time when this happened was when my dad gave me this resource and I didn’t really understand this one part and I kept reading and still didn’t understand it. I called my dad over and he helped me understand it better.
Passion Project #4
Right now I am in a good spot with gathering information. Throughout this project I have learned a lot about myself. I have learned that I am not the best at taking notes. I have been working hard on trying to fix that and maybe by the end of the project I will become a better note taker. I have also learned that I liked non fiction books more than I thought. My favorite types of books are fiction books and now I kind of like non fiction a little bit more.
I have learned a lot about myself as a reader/writer. As a reader I have learned that I am a pretty fast reader and I read through the articles fast, so I go back and read it again slower and take notes. I have also learned that I can understand non fiction books better then fiction books. I think I understand nonfiction better because nonfiction is true and I might know a little about the topic before reading it. As a writer I have learned that when I take notes, the note has to make sense and I have to understand it. Last night I went over my notes and some of it didn’t make sense so I deleted it.
During this project I have learned a ton about me being a time manager. Before this project started I thought I wasn’t a good time manager and I thought I saved everything for the last second. During this project I have completely changed because I have been a good time manager. Everyday I have been doing work and I try to balance it out. This makes me feel so much less rushed and it makes me do a better job. I am probably going to start my final product next week. I just need a little bit more information for one more sub question.
Passion project #3
Right now I think I’m in a pretty good spot. I have been taking a lot of notes and I have found a lot of resources. I thought that it wasn’t too hard to find resources but there wasn’t anything about the stock market on the schools databases. I have only had to change 2 things. One is my final project because I realized that I can’t really insert pictures and videos because the stock market is digital. I am going to make a slideshow with different sub topics and I’m going to explain what I am talking about. I also changed the way I take notes. My dad read over my notes and we made sure that they made sense and they were flowing.
I think my work is pretty good right now. I have really been reading the books and the articles thoroughly. I think that this project helps with my non fiction reading skills and my note taking skills. This helped with my non fiction reading skills because I usually read fiction books and I have never really had to take notes on non fiction books. I think this helped me with my note taking skills because I am not a great note taker and reading hard articles and taking notes has really helped me organize my notes and make more powerful notes. - Investing is a big risk of money first start small then go big. Only invest if you have enough money.
3.Short term gains, when you buy a stock and sell it in a short amount of time Long term value, when you own your stock for a longer amount of time.
- Stocks, individual stocks that you normally trade. Index, a bundle of a lot of different stocks
- Retirement account: Something where you put a little bit of money in each year for after you retire. The money builds up over the years if you keep putting money in it.
1.Right now is the best time to buy stocks because there down so much you can buy them for a lower price.
2.The market is doing so bad that when it goes down 7% there is no trading stocks for a certain amount of time.
- If you owned a stock before all of this happened you should buy more stock when it’s cheaper.

Passion project #2
I have been pretty good as far as identifying resources. After I read an article, watch a video, read a book etc. It has been easy for me to find resources because my dad knows good sites for teaching kids about the stock market. I have read a lot of articles and I have read a book. Last night me and my dad watched a video, and the guy who did the video has a show every night that I might watch a few times. Throughout the day I have been going down to my dad’s computer and he has been explaining to me what’s going on. I feel that I am in pretty good shape with taking notes and gathering information
I will make sure I am giving credit to the resources. I will do this by adding links to the article I’m reading. I will also say who wrote the article. When I take a note I don’t put down the exact thing the author said. I put it into my own words, to make it more understandable. Lastly when I do put down something exact form the story I give the author credit and put it in quotation marks.
I think that the video I watched last night was the most helpful. I think this because I was watching this with my dad and the guy was talking about more advanced stuff about the stock market then all of my other sources. I also found it really helpful because when he said something I didn’t understand I just asked my dad the question and he was able to answer me. I am trying to make some T charts because in a lot of the things I’m reading there is a problem, solution and I think a T chart fits well with that. I want to become better at figuring out what kind of text structure I’m reading. I want to become better at this because it could help me organize my notes better and not just have one big blob of notes. Problem solution is the only structure I have come across yet it is important because of the coronavirus impact. Because the problem was it went down so much and the solution is the market is going back up a little at a time.
Passion Project #1
For my passion project I chose to do it on the stock market. When I first saw this assignment me and my mom were thinking of topics I can do. We thought I could do lacrosse but I know too much about lacrosse, I wouldn’t have any researching questions. Then I brought up the stock market and we started brainstorming questions. Then we decided that it would be a good Idea because of what’s happening now due to COVID-19 and I just think that it’s interesting. I have always wanted to know more about the stock market and this is my chance.
We made our final decision because my dad invests in stocks and he knows a lot about the stock market. That made a huge impact because he’s another resource. I am going to interview him asking questions similar questions to my sub questions. I chose my research questions by choosing 2 small topics within the stock market to study on then I just based my questions off of that. The 2 small topics I’m focusing on are why is the stock market crashing so much and how the stock market works.
Passion project #5
I just finished my WeVideo it turned out really well. First I had the interview questions then on the same slide I put voiceover and I was saying the answer to my question. Then after the 3 interview questions, I typed up how to make a movie on 4 steps but each of the steps has 3 or 4 parts to it. I had a problem making the WeVideo the problem was that I couldn’t acsess WeVideo fro my home computer so I had to restart the whole thing on my phone, I was kind of rushed. But I was able to do it. I tried switching to I movie but, I didn’t know how to use it.
Passion project #3
The person I interviewed wrote back. The first question I asked him was long does it take to make a movie? He said a short film could take a couple of years but a long one can take years. The next question I asked him was what is your favorite part of making a movie? He said it was directing because you get a large input on the set. The last question I asked him was what is the hardest part of making a movie? He said directing because you need to have good communication with the actors else your movie won’t turn out as you envision it.
Passion Project #1
My class just got assigned a new project it is a passion project. I am interested on how movie’s are made so I chose that as my topic. I have been doing a lot of research I have photos, lists of how people make movie’s and I am going to interview someone and ask him these questions: What was the hardest part of making a movie, How long does it take to make a movie and What was your favorite part of making a movie. At the end of the project I am going to put all of my work into a Wevideo. I can’t wait to finish this project, i’ll keep you updated.
