3rd week Lima beans

No air                                                                                No sunlight                                                                          controlled

No Air

2 of the plants exploded I think its because we are not giving  those plants carbon dioxide.

No sunlight

It is tall but sick because we gave that plant no sunlight so it cant feed itself and smells like stinky socks and its pale. You may  think since it’s tall it’s a little bit healthy. However, it’s not healthy, it’s tall because it’s looking for the sunlight.

controlled

It is tall and healthy because we gave that plant sunlight, carbon dioxide, and water.

Plants can grow with out  soil its called “hydroponics.”

Seed pods

What’s happening now.

My plants are starting to lose their leaves and the pistols are starting to grow seeds inside.  We have been observing our plants for over 10 days, maybe even 20 and we pollinated our flowers with q-tips.  We rubbed our q-tip on the stamen of a flower and put the pollen that was on the q-tip on to a pistil of another flower.  That is how we pollinated in class because there are no bees or humming birds or wild animals to pollinate the flowers.

Prediction.

I think in a few days that all of the flowers will have fallen off and some of the pistols will be breaking open and dropping seeds.

Growth.

My plant started out as just a teeny seed.  Then it just sprouted and grew a stem and then some leaves.  But then a big change happened.  The plant grew taller and started growing leaves.  We pollinated the flower of the plant.  After this the pistils started getting fat with seeds in them.  I am excited to see what is going to happen next.

week 1 plant

We are observing our first  plant  observation.

My plants are  just starting to  sprout , there’s a lot of  excitement in the first week.

Grown a lot since I planted my  seeds.

I put up lot of hard work into this I’m proud of how my plant has grown and it’s really fun.  I wonder how much more it will grow.

Week 2 Plants

We started week 2 of our plant observation unit. Our  controlled plants show cell 1 my plant is 7 centimeters tall in cell 2 my plant is 5 centimeters tall, and in cell 3 one of my plants are 3 centimeters tall. The other one is 5 Centimeters. In cell 4 my plant is 8 centimeters tall. My manipulative no plants have grown yet. I’m excited to see what’s going to happen and if they’re going to grow or not.

poem reflection

Inspired me to pick the  poem called the snail who won the marathon for the Poetry Festival was because I had a feel for it and it was just unique If you want to read it it’ll be right down below. Also I thought something silly would be nice.

The Snail Who Won the Marathon

There once was a snail who won the marathon

No one knows how he won.

He say “It was not much fun” but he won.

People say he cheated

And climbed in and out of a runner’s clothes.

Or he drove in a really fast car,

Or teleported to the finish line.

Or got a private jet to fly to the finish line,

Or he did the same thing but with a jet pack.

That’s why you should never race a snail.

I also thought that it was just the special.

One plastic bag

One plastic bag

BY: Miranda Paul

In class I read “One Plastic Bag.” The Story  mainly about a woman who reuses plastic bags.My favorite part was when Isatou and the women make purses out of the plastic bags. Message of this book is polluting is not the way to go.  I think you should too make the purses out of plastic bags because the plastic bags on the ground looked ugly and goats were dying. The book made me think about why plastic bags are bad for the Earth.

Banning plastic bags in Bali

TED Talk
This book was mainly about two girls  end a group of kids who made Bali plastic bag free. my favorite part was when they said that Bali was already of the way to Plastic bag free. This Ted talk reminded me of one plastic bag. The message of the Ted talk is that problems can always be solved. This Ted talk made me think what problem can I solve. The Ted talk inspired me to try to solve a problem.
