Ellis Island trip

Today we went to Ellis Island. In class we have been working on immigration to the U.S. and the immigrants had to go through Ellis Island. I was very interesting to actually see Ellis Island.

We left for Ellis Island at 7:00. We took a bus that took around 1:35 minutes to Ellis Island. We stopped at a port where we took a ferry to Ellis Island. We had to take a ferry because Ellis island is a small piece of land that is made of landfill. When we first got off of the ferry we ate our snack. Once we were done we went into the museum and looked around with our groups. My group was, Karine, Avery, Kate, Dani. We then met our tour guide and he took us to the great hall and we got to do some of the things the immigrants had to do when they went through the great hall. I got to do a intelligence test, which is where there is a marked rectangle with tape and there are blocks of wood and you have to make all of the blocks fit into a rectangle. Next we watched a short movie about Ellis Island. Once we finished the movie we went outside to eat lunch and take some pictures with the sea and the statue of liberty in the background. Once we finished that we went back inside and looked at exhibits. My favorite place that my group went was the third floor because we got to see where the dormitories were that the detainees had to sleep in. Then we left the museum and went on a ferry. This time the ferry was 45 minutes because the ferry took us to the statue of liberty. We ended our ferry ride and got back on the bus.

Overall I really enjoyed Ellis Island. I think it is a great experience and I am so glad that I got to come here. There were a few flaws but i really enjoyed it.
