Rube Goldberg Post #6

When I started to video, I was super excited. Each time that I failed, I thought about it, and came up with a solution. I ended up failing only 3 times until I had my success.
When I was filming, I wanted to get different camera angles so I could always get the best shot.
When I was making the movie, I edited the film a little bit, so there weren’t any pauses. I also added music and titles. When I looked at the videos, I noticed that it was too quick to understand what was happening, so I put it in slow-mo.
This is my video:

Rube Goldberg Post #5

I have been collecting all of the parts for my machine. Then I started to test each step to make sure that it works. Everything is working perfectly. All I have to do is build it.
After I built it, I tested it. I tested it many times. The first time, the clear tube fell over before the car hit it. The solution to that was to put the clear tube on a ledge, so it would hold it up enough and still allow the clear tube to fall off. The second time, the tire hit the ledge of the table, so it wouldn’t spin around. The solution to that was to move the paper tube with the tire farther away from the ledge. Also to move the string with the tire farther up, so the tire would be further off the ground. The third time, the tire did not hit the Lego person. Was not getting knocked down by the tire. What happened was, the tire hit the  Lego person, but  it didn’t fall of the table, so it wasn’t enough to make the marble fall. The solution to that was to move the tire and the Lego person, so the tire will swing with lots of force to move the string. The fourth time, the Lego person fell off the table, but wasn’t heavy enough to pull the string. The solution to that was to attach another Lego person to make it heavy.
Now I think that we are ready to video.

Rube Goldberg Post #4

Now that I am making a new machine, I need a new sketch. I used the videos to help me draw my sketch. I knew that it was a good strategy to work backwards. I tried, but I could’t really think of how to tip over the cup of food. Then I decided that I’ll just work form the beginning. I thought that it would be really hard, but it was actually pretty easy.
My first step is me pressing the button. The button then makes the car go on the track. Then the car will hit the clear tube. There is a paper role that has a string tied to it. On the other side of the string is a little tire. The tire on the string is wrapped around the paper role. The clear tube stands next to the tire to keep it from swinging. When the tube falls down, the tire on the string swings. Then the tire hits the dominoes, which hit each other. The last domino has a string attached to it. The string is also a stopper for the marble on a ramp. When the last domino falls off the table, the string goes down with it, causing the marble to go down the ramp. Then the marble shoots the ball and knocks down the cup of food.
I hope that this will work.

Rube Goldberg Post #3

When I was testing my Rube Goldberg, I realized that it didn’t work well. The track was sliding, the car wasn’t going around the loop. It just wasn’t reliable. I was really upset because I worked pretty hard on it, but I knew that my machine had to work almost all the time. I had to be reliable.
I didn’t have many more ideas, so I looked at some examples of Rube Goldberg machines to help me out. The video helped me a LOT. It gave me many ideas. Then I had to sketch it. I took some parts that I might need to make my new ideas work. After some hard thinking and testing, I finally had a poster of my new Rube Goldberg machine.
My goal is to make the food in the cup fall in the dog bowl. Then my puppy, Sierra will eat her dinner. I have 13 steps.  Now that I have all of the parts, I will start to build.

Rube Goldberg Post #2

I finally decided what I was going to do. I don’t know exactly what my goal is, but I have a pretty good idea. I already know almost all of the steps and my sketch is almost done.
The first step is that I press the button. That causes the car to go around the track. Then the car hits the cup, which makes the ball fall out. Then the ball hits 2 small balls. Then each ball hits a domino, which hits more dominoes. Each path of dominoes leads to a different step.

Kids in my class are working on a Rube Goldberg project. Some kids are working in groups, and some our working solo. I am working solo. Many people like to work in groups, and so do I, but I chose to work alone because it would be easier to focus and get work done.
It took me a little while to figure out what I was going  to do since I was on vacation for a little while. Most people had already decided who they were going to work with and what their goal would be. I on the other hand didn’t even have  good idea of what we were supposed to do.
Since I already was kind of behind, I thought that it would be best to work alone and not have to worry about scheduling.
