An Interview of Mrs. Cohen

Q: Why did you choose to work at Greenacres?

A:Well, I worked at Fox Meadow last year, and then I was asked to come to Greenacres to teach 3rd grade.

Q: What is it that you enjoy most about teaching?

A:The thing I enjoy most about teaching is learning as much from my students as they learn from me. I also enjoy how each day is new and different, and how each day I learn something new about my students. I also enjoy how my students can teach me jokes.

Q: Why did you choose to be a teacher?

A:I chose to be a teacher because I had many great teachers growing up and I wanted to be able to help mold someone’s life like they helped mine.

Q: What is your favorite time of a school day?

A:My favorite time of school day is right when the kids come in in the morning because they share with me what they did last evening and we get to learn about each other.

Q: What is your favorite subject to teach?

A:My favorite subject to teach is reading because I like to get lost in the book.

A: I’m really excited to be teaching at Greenacres and I’m excited to be working with such amazing colleagues. Also, everyone is so welcoming!

Q: Is teaching ever stressful or annoying?

A:I think any job can be stressful, but I’m really lucky to be able to work with great students and colleagues. Mindfulness helps me just be in the moment.

PS. 1 Visit

Q. What age children did you meet?

A. They were 5th grade and Pre-K students.

Q. What was the most exciting part?

A. The most exciting part was seeing all the presents piled up in the room.

Q. How long was the car ride?

A. The car ride was about an hour and five minutes.

Q. How long were you there?

A. We were there for about an hour and a half.

The visit to PS. 1 was very exciting.  It made me feel so happy to make someone else feel happy.  I think it was a great experience and I learned a lot about other kids and not to be greedy about getting things because other people don’t have as much as we do.

Little Miss

Dear Little Miss,

My fight with my bestie is getting worse!! What do I do!!!

-Helpless Lady

Dear Helpless Lady,

What you need to do is talk with your friend. Maybe it was just a silly rumor. Maybe it was a misunderstanding. Well, my best advice is to go to the psychologist because she helps friends get over fights. Or talk to your teacher.

All About Little Miss…

HI!! My name is Little Miss. I answer all of your personal questions. But don’t worry, I won’t tell anyone and I won’t even know it’s you! Instead of writing your name on the bottom you can make up a name like, Bored Brother or Scared Silly. Or you don’t have to write your name at all! Try not to write silly questions or insults. It does give me a good laugh though. You can write a question by the Little Miss sign by the PTA board near the kindergarten entrance.

Have a Happy Holiday and keep writing!!

The Greenacres Book Fair

When in doubt, read it out!  Grades kindergarten through fifth grade at Greenacres were able to attend to our annual book fair. Students visited the fair with  family or with with their class.  Parents in the PTA helped by coming in and setting up the books. They also ran the fair.   There was a range of genres and levels from fiction to cookbooks and adult readers. This year the book fair was open from November 7-10th, 2016. The classes went on different days depending on their schedule. Doesn’t it sound like fun?

GHOSTS! by Addie and Lucy

The book we’re reviewing is Ghosts by Raina Telgemeier.  From the writer of Drama, comes Ghosts. This book is about a girl named Catrina and her sister Maya. They move to another state, where it’s dark and misty. They say it’s full of ghosts. Is it? You’ll have to read it to find out.

Seriously, read this book!. Now here’s some stuff about the book. In the dark, dark woods their friend takes them to see ghosts! The next day they go to the ghost museum where you talk to ghosts. There’s this special drink that’s like Fanta. The Fanta drink makes ghosts come and talk to you.

The kind of people that would like this book are people who like fiction, graphic novels, and funny, scary books.

Frankie & Fanucci’s

By: Kayla J. and Jackie K.

Hi! We’re Kayla and Jackie. If you are looking for a great pizza place then you should go to Frankie & Fanucci’s,

The pizza is delicious! It is so good. There is just enough cheese and just enough sauce. It’s perfect! The pasta is also really good. I love the meatballs. Frankie & Fanucci’s has a kids meal menu, so it is perfect for little kids. The kids’ menu has burgers, cheeseburgers, pizza, pasta without cheese, pasta with meat sauce, and lots more. The lemonade is super good. Even parents like the lemonade and parents are really picky. The lemonade is not too sweet, but not too plain.

For me the penne vodka is the best meal they have there. You can get it for kids meal or just a grown up meal! The caesar salad is the best salad there, they have a really good dressing. The salad is not warm, it is perfect. You can also get take-out. They always have the food ready and there is great service.

Frankie & Fanucci’s is a great place to eat and is great for children. They make the food really neat looking. You don’t even have to make a reservation.  We would recommend that if you have a big group, then you should make a reservation!

So come to Frankie & Fanucci’s and enjoy your dinner!
