Capstone #7

Now, we are up to our final steps in Capstone! The next step was to present! After a while, we started presenting in front of my class. At first, I was really nervous, but once I was done, I felt much better and wasn’t nervous to go in the future. We practiced in front of the class little by little. For example, when we first started to present in front of the class, we went for two minutes. Then, we went for four minutes. Finally, we presented our whole presentation. Then, we practiced in front of other classes. Next, we had our big Capstone presentation in front of the parents. I liked how a few kids were in every room to present so we didn’t have to listen to about sixty kids present because everyone’s is about five minutes long. Overall, I really enjoyed Capstone, and I hope to do more projects like this in the future! If you are interested in watching my final Capstone presentation, here it is :

Capstone #6

As we continue Capstone, it was finally time to make our final product! We had to either do a TED talk presentation, where you create a google slideshow and talk about your topic for as long as you want, or we could do an Ignite presentation, where you create a slideshow and you can advance the slides to change automatically over a few seconds, and you also talk about your topic, or you can make a WeVideo, where you create a video about your topic.

I decided to do a TED talk. To create a TED talk I had to do a few steps. The first step I had to do was make a script in which I answered my sub questions. Sub questions are questions that you have to answer to lead you to answering your main inquiry question. The next step I had to do was make a google sideshow of photos that matched my script and information. This wasn’t challenging, and didn’t take a lot of time. You had the option to have one picture behind you, but I thought that was going to be boring, so I chose a little over twenty slides. The final step I had to do was to start practice my script over and over again. I had to do this until I knew my script well enough to not completely stare at my script while  I was presenting. Knowing my script wasn’t that difficult for me. I just had to practice and practice. Overall, I really liked the practicing part of the process and I can’t wait to present!

Rocketry Reflection

In this rocketry process, I learned that while building you want to try to make your rocket as light as possible, in order for you to make it go higher. During designing, I learned that you need to have a lot of materials. During launching, I learned that your rocket might not go the way you wanted it to go at first, because you clearly have no experience. You might be last on your first launch, but first on your last launch.

Having three launches impacts the successes and failures of each rocket because after each launch you learn something new. This leads you to improving. While I was working with the group, I allowed everyone to include their ideas. I made sure every slide was consistant and that I completed all my slides in time.

I also learned that working in a group, with other people is good for creating a rocket. I think this because if your struggling there are other people in the group to help you come up with an idea. Although, there is some arguing along the way, the rocket turns out to be amazing.

Booing

It all started on a usual  Monday morning, 9:00 a.m, Heathcote school. The doors burst open. “Did you get booed?” Did you get booed?” Everyone asked each other one by one curiously.  Did you get booed? Do you know what booing is? Well, booing is when someone rings your doorbell, leaves a piece (s) of candy at your doorstep, and runs off! People do it as a tradition every year, starting a few weeks before Halloween.

At 8:35 a.m the bell rang. The doors burst open once again. A whole group of kids walked in. “What are you talking about?” “You got booed?” “Who booed you?” “Are you sure it was her?”

“It’s fun to get booed because you get lots of candy!” says Naomi Fischer. “I think it’s mysteries, fun, and it takes you be surprise when someone rings your doorbell and you see nobody there,” says Jordan Knispel. “I like booing. It’s really fun and cool because you get candy,” according to Sam Smith. “It’s fun to be booed, and it’s fun to boo your friends,” Sarina Metha says. “I think booing is really fun overall. Although if you are a new kid it might be sad because,  you might not get booed.”

Have you been booed? Well, you better be prepared…

Art

Just recently it was my birthday, so my aunt gave me a art set, and two art books that tell about famous art. She got me those gifts because she knows I love art. When I opened the present I was so excited I only saw the set, and started painting right away, then my aunt interrupted my painting and said, “Look, Gabi there is more.” “Really!” I gasped. It was a book of famous artists the book was so cool. We went through some artists like, Pablo Picasso, Marcel Duchamp, Marc Chagall, Edward Hopper, Alexander Calder, Mark Rothko, Joseph Beuys, Roy Lichtenstein, Yves Klein, Bridget Riley, Dan Flavin, Eva Hesse, David Hockney, and many more. Some artists painted sun paintings, moving art, mystery and light. Everyone’s art was so good and different. The next book was just about kinds of art. I liked the other book better because it states the artist and there painting. Which do you like learning more about artists and one of their pieces of artwork, or learning about different kinds of art? Lastly, my aunt left, and I said, “Thank you!” After she left, I thought about some things, this was the first time my aunt got me something rather than clothes for my birthday. I was surprised of what she got me, but it was such a good gift. After looking out all that art, I decided I wanted to draw something that looks like Pablo Picasso, so I looked back in my book and started drawing with all the great stuff my set came with, paint, water colors, colored pencils, and many more! I really enjoyed my present!!

  5. Tie or tap the end of the pillow when the roll is inside
  6. Enjoy!!!
