The Perfect Italian Restaurant?

Hi guys. Are you wondering what good restaurant to visit? Well you came to the right place. Today I am writing a review on Frankie and Fanuuci’s which is the perfect place to go if you live close to Hartsdale and if you love pizza. But Frankie and Fannucci’s isn’t only a pizza place, It has many other delicious foods. Frankie and Fanuuci’s has been friendly and has perfect foods every time me and my family go. And I love going there because I love pizza and salad, their specialties!

Frankie and Fanuuci’s has never let me down when i’m craving for a pizza or a salad or any other Italian food. The first thing I should say is, Frankie and Fanucci’s is a great kid friendly place. I always see other kids there when I go. When I come in I am greeted with a pizza smell and this restaurant is really welcoming. When me and my family walk in a waiter comes and seats us. Sometimes it takes a few minutes to be seated but it’s never to long. There are nice lights in the restaurant and it’s the perfect lighting. Not dark and not super bright. I remember what i’m trying to say is that Frankie and Fanuuci’s is a very kid – friendly and welcoming place. Me and my family love it.

The food is delicious at this restaurant. They serve the food very nicely and it is always very good. I always get pizza and sometimes a salad or some pasta.  And the dessert is delicous! Last time I went there I got a smores pizza. It had dough for the crust, chocolate as the sauce, and masrshmell’s as the cheese; and to top it all of there was chocolate drizzled on top.  I bet that will make you want to go to this restaurant!  It is a decent sized place with a good amount of servers so we never have to wait to long. But occasionally we have to wait to get our check but I get why. They are busy because the restaurant is so good. I’m getting so hungry writing this. But otherwise the food is so good, the restaurant is very kid friendly and it’s the perfect place to go if you are craving for pizza or other Italian food.  I recomend this place for people who love Italian food and who live close to Hartsdale. And the most important thing you should know about is that the town Frankie and Fanuuci’s is in is a friendly and bright place.

Their food and dessert are really delicious. This place is perfect and I suggest you go there.  Down below are the times Frankie Fanuuci’s are open. I hope you will check out Frankie and Fanuuci’s soon. It is located at 202 East Hartsdale Avenue. Well… Bye for now!

Too Old For Kissing- A Literary Essay

Hi everyone, Our class just finished writing literary essay’s. We have been studying literary essay’s for a couple weeks. My literary essay was based of the story Last Kiss by Ralph Fletcher. So… I hope you like my story!

Have you ever told a lie and it keeps getting bigger and bigger, but when you finally tell the truth it feels like a big relief? You feel like the weight of the world is off your shoulders and is giving you some slack. You feel good to finally open up and you feel so much better. This is what Ralph wants in the short story Last Kiss by Ralph Fletcher, when one of the main characters Ralph doesn’t talk things out and things got a lot worse. In the short story, Fletcher is trying to tell us that when you don’t talk things out it leads to misunderstanding and confusion, cause people to drift apart, and doesn’t help children grow up any faster.

Without explaining why his  father won’t kiss Ralph goodnight anymore, he makes his son feel confused and surprised. “Feeling more surprised than hurt, I headed off to bed.” Ralph might be imagining that he did something wrong, for instance, his father doesn’t love him anymore, or that his father doesn’t have time for him. If the father would just explain why he is not kissing Ralph goodnight anymore, there wouldn’t be any misunderstandings and confusion between them.

Talking not only avoids misunderstandings and confusion but it can bring people closer. Although the dad doesn’t mention the goodnight kiss, he still remembers the conversation they had about jellyfish. “How can they light up like that?” I had asked my dad. “They make their own light,” he explained. “Like fireflies.” “How do jellyfish move?” I asked him. “Do they have fins?” “No,” Dad said. “But what if they want to see their friends?” I asked. “How do they get their?” That memory brought them together more and made Ralph have a good memory of the father and his relationship with him. Now Ralph might have a negative memory of his father stopping giving him kisses.

The father’s decision to not kiss Ralph goodnight anymore seems to be because he thinks Ralph is too old for kissing and men and boys don’t kiss each other. I know this because after the father stops kissing him goodnight, he just reaches out to shake Ralph’s hand. “At first I just stood there, confused. Finally I took his hand and shook it. The way I’d seen men shake hands.” He is very confused by this. And this sudden change doesn’t feel right to him.
Sometimes parents forget that kids don’t have a lot of experience in life and they need adults to explain things to them. Adults shouldn’t assume that kids always know what’s going on unless they talk to them. Ralph’s parents in the short story Last Kiss didn’t do this, and that is why Ralph was so confused and hurt. “Even though I was confused, one thing was clear – my father and I had drifted away from each other in a small but important way, a way I couldn’t even explain , not even myself.” This shows that Ralph’s father  created distance between themselves and their son  by not talking to him. The author, Ralph Fletcher, wants us to know if you don’t talk things out it can leads to misunderstanding and confusion, cause people to drift apart, and doesn’t help children grow up any faster.

Something we hid…

Meet Margarita Genis, an immigrant from Russia who came to America when she was a teenager. Margarita’s family wanted to come here to America because of religious persecution in Russia. Even though she wanted to leave Russia  because of religious persecution, part of her felt like she was leaving a piece of her there. “We have attachments to place were we grow up. We have friends, we have some family…”

Down below you can read along

Natasha: Right now in America, people are arguing about whether we should let more immigrants come here. Even though we are a country of immigrants, some Americans think that we have too many immigrants and that there are not enough jobs for them. Some immigrants come here just because they want more opportunities, and some immigrants come here because they are escaping something bad in their old country. One of these bad things could be religious persecution. You would think that in this day and age, people would have the freedom to practice whatever religion that they choose. But actually, in some countries, people are harmed for their beliefs. In Russia, Jewish people have been long considered not really Russian because of prejudice. Harmony Bowes has the story of Margarita Genis.

HARMONY: Thank you Natasha. This is the story of Margarita Genis who immigrated to the United States from Russia when she was a teenager. Margarita had a mostly happy childhood in Russia. Her parents made sure she got a good education, and she enjoyed many cultural events in Moscow. However, Margarita and her family had to leave Russia because of religious reasons. They were Jewish. At that time in Russia, being Jewish was something you had to hide.

SOUNDBITE: My parents always telling me don’t tell anyone you are  because in general people look at you differently. As well as they… my brother was beaten a few times because of that. So it’s definitely something we hided while we were there.

HARMONY: Although they knew they had to get away from the people that were treating them badly, it’s still not easy to leave the place you lived your whole life.

SOUNDBITE: We have attachments to the place where we grow up. We have friends, we have some family, so you definitely feel like you leaving a piece of you there.

HARMONY: Margarita missed her friends and distant family when she left Russia, but she never truly felt at home there because she was not considered a real Russian by the government or the people.

SOUNDBITE:  In Russia, it’s considered to be a nationality. Because I never was Russian, I was always Jewish.

HARMONY: Margarita’s family wanted to go where they would be welcomed. They considered moving to Israel, but they decided that they would have the most opportunities in America.

SOUNDBITE:  In general, America is the best of the best country, and that’s where my family felt we would fit the most.

HARMONY: Margarita’s family was not the only family that needed to escape religious persecution in Russia. There are other Russian Jews here who left for the same reason.

SOUNDBITE: There was a pretty big Russian community in America. So the immigration started by Russia. I mean Jewish Russian community the immigration started a while ago. So there was distant relatives that my parents knew.

HARMONY: When Margarita arrived in America, it was not exactly what she thought it would be like. Her family knew that there would be lots of opportunities, but good things are not just handed out the moment you arrive.

SOUNDBITE: It’s different than I expected because everyone thinks you come to America and everything is just given to you. You realize that is not the case and it takes you awhile to realize, but you work hard and then realized you can get what you want as long as you commit your time and education.

HARMONY: Just because someone immigrates to America doesn’t mean that others automatically view them as fellow Americans. Sometimes people feel welcome and sometimes they don’t.

SOUNDBITE:  I mean always feel like an American. It’s more the question of when do people think YOU are an American. Because for most of the people, I am always going to be a Russian because I have an accent.

HARMONY: No matter how Margarita is thought of, she still feels positive about her choice of moving to America. She loves her American friends and she knows she made the right choice of coming here to America.

SOUNDBITE: It’s a privilege when a country wants to welcome. It’s not an entitlement that is given to me. No one is supposed to welcome immigrants. So it’s great when it happens.

HARMONY:   Margarita Genis still misses her old friends and family in her old country, Russia, but she is still happy to call America her loving home, and is very grateful for the opportunities she has living here.

My favorite thing to bake is sugar cookies. Down below I will tell you the recipe for the yummy sugar cookies. And finally, one more thing. B-L-U-E All The Way To Victory!

Hi guys,

When you are a fifth grader at Fox meadow you participate in something called the Winter Games. For three days you get to play fun games, cheer on your class mates, and have fun with your friends. For the past forty years the winter games has been a tradition in our school. We are divided up into 4 teams, North, South, East, West, and we compete in athletic and academic events. In the Winter Games you are either competing in the sports or cheering your team on. The most Exciting event to me was the running relays. I competed in that event and I was on the North team. For the first time in the Winter Games we had something called the run off. It’s when two teams tied and we compete in that sport again until we have a winner. The two teams to run off were my team, North, and the South team. At first I thought is was going to be another tie because it was so close but at the way end the South team won. A really important part about the Winter Games is the cheering. While our teams are competing we cheer them on like crazy. After the first day of the Winter Games I got a sore throat. But I still cheered a lot anyway. One of the North’s cheer was… “B-L-U-E all the way to victory, go blue!” Our team yelled that cheer a lot through out the winter games. if you thought that was a lot we even got to go on a field trip to a curling club on the last day. It was so much fun. The last three days were so much fun with no school work at all, just fun games. North was tied for 3rd place. Even though we didn’t win I still had an awesome three days. I am so sad that the games are over but I had such a fun time…

The Perfect Valentines Gift!

Hi,

I have some great news! The 5th graders at Fox Meadow, are having a fundraiser.  We are making and selling hand-made Valentine’s cards.  Parents can purchase a card, with or without candy, to be left in their kid’s locker on Valentine’s morning. Below are some of the cards we are selling. The cause we are supporting is to send unprivileged kids from Mount Vernon to summer camp.  If you want to try something like what my grade is doing, contact our teacher, Mr. Besancon at dbesanscon@scarsdaleschools.org.
