Tech 7 Is Done

As the name implies, Tech 7 is ending! Shame. This will be my last blog post regarding Tech 7, but hopefully you will hear from me again for Tech 8!

To end the school year, we are doing another free-choice topic. I wanted to use this time to reflect on my year in 7th grade.

Personally, I thought it was okay. The first two quarters were fun, but as soon as school closed and e-Learning began, that was in the past. I found e-Learning to be quite overwhelming and was shocked to see how other people quickly adapted to it.

There were good parts, too, most of them occurring in the beginning of the year. I liked some of the field trips and we had holiday parties for Christmas and Halloween. It was also fun to meet new people, though I did not interact with them much in the ladder half of the year.

So that’s about it. I guess I’ll see you in a year or so in TECH 8! Cool! Intriguing! Fascinating! Appalling! Epic!

Bye for now. See you soon(ish)

Tech 7 – Pretty sure this is post 7

Welcome back! This post is a free-choice topic. Thrilling! Personally, I don’t want to accidentally say something controversial, so I’ll try.

Today we’ll be talking about my thoughts on COVID-19, and the way the school district is headed.

Right now, I would say the school is not in any position to reopen in September, seeing as how no vaccine has been developed and there probably won’t be one for many months, allowing for possibly a second wave of the virus in the fall.

In my opinion the most important thing is that everyone spends as much time as possible outside over the summer. I’ve heard that the virus dies in heat, so hopefully with that knowledge we can minimize the effects of a second wave if one does come.

So that’s about it. I hope my opinions are non-controversial, and that nobody is offended by what I say. Anyway I’d better get going now, BYE

Tech 7 – Is Styrofoam Recyclable?

Do you like recycling?

I hope you do. But even if you don’t, it doesn’t matter. I just thought I would start this post with a question for a change.

So anyway, welcome back to Tech 7! Today we talk about recycling! And styrofoam! And recycling styrofoam!

So let’s start. So apparently, even though certain towns don’t allow you to recycle styrofoam, there are still some places that you can bring it to recycle. I was asked to say what I would do if that happened to me.

In other words, if I wanted to recycle a certain plastic, but they didn’t take it, but then there were OTHER places that DID take it, what would I do? So obviously I would take it in to the place where they recycle it, because it’s eco-friendly and I also just wanna get rid of it.

The annoying thing is I would have to find out where it is, and then go there around once a week (whenever the regular recycling comes). It would probably be worth the effort, but it would still be annoying.

So that’s it, we’re done. So as always, hope you enjoyed and bye

Tech 7 – Plastic is cool

Well here we are again. It’s always such a pleasure…

Those were song lyrics, if you couldn’t tell. Unfortunately, as much as I would like to, we are not here to sing today. Instead, it’s time for plastic! Plastic is cool. That’s the title! Yay!

So let’s get started. So I was asked to make some conclusions about the kinds of plastics (that all have names that are hard to spell and pronounce) we use and what happens after we use them. Thrilling!

So a large part of what plastics we use has to do with properties. You ought to know what those are. Those make a big difference in the usability of that certain plastic, and that of others. Being able to tell the plastic’s properties is very helpful in understanding how the plastic is used. After it’s used, hopefully it’s recycled. I would hope it doesn’t end up in the trash. That’s not where it belongs.

so that’s about it. Bye

Tech 7 – A Reflection

For the first time I had trouble coming up with an uncreative name for one of my posts! Wow things have changed. It feels almost magical…

Oh right, I needed to be talking about something! Well, hello everyone. It’s Tech 7 time again. This post will actually be quite hard to write, because, as I said in my uncreative title, it’s a reflection. I have a lot of trouble with reflections… So yes, we had to pick a Tech 7 topic and reflect on it in a post.

So I decided I would dedicate this post to something I like about the human-made world: metal! Metal is very interesting. I think it is a very unique material. From the way it’s made, to the properties it has, it’s really cool. Something that especially interests me is how hard it is to burn. Plastic would melt and wood would just burn because it’s flammable, but metal would probably be fine. Also it is very useful because it is an electric conductor. That’s important when you’re like me and you spend the endless hours of your existence doing something involving a computer.

I think that was a pretty long paragraph, so I’m gonna stop here. I hope you did not get bored halfway through the post. But if you did let me know and I will probably make the next one less boring.

so that’s about all I have. See you later

Tech 7 – Wood is very epic

The title should explain just about everything in this post: it’s about Tech 7 again, and also about wood. And about epicness! That’s pretty cool, right?

So yeah, let’s get started. The first thing you need to know is that we’ll be having English class today because we are analyzing quotes! So let me get the quote. By that I mean write it by hand because I can’t copy and paste it for whatever reason. >:(

“Oregon Forest Law requires us to replant the site within two years and it needs to meet “green up” standards by six [years]. By state law we are required to leave two live trees standing and two downed trees per acre of clearcut harvest. We are also required to protect small, medium and large fish streams.”

I hope you understood more of that than I did. So anyway, time for me to give my opinion. I think it’s good that they require that by law. It’s nice that they respect the environment and I support it. I don’t think the requirements should be changed at all, and I think more states should do this.

So there you go. That was longer than my usual posts. I hope you liked reading my opinion and hearing about my frustrations at not being able to copy and paste the quote. So anyway BYE

Tech 7 Again

So my teacher said she noticed that the girls largely communicate using email, and the boys talk during Zoom. So she was wondering why that was the case.

Well, here’s my opinion. (And I hope I don’t offend anyone with this). I think it is because the girls might not want to share their questions or comments in front of everyone else, which is why they use the email. And the boys do not mind at all, so they talk during the Zoom.

This is simply my opinion. I don’t have a lot of evidence for this but hey. It doesn’t matter. OK BYE

Tech 7 – Post 1

We have started 7th grade tech, which means it’s time to use this blog again. Here is my first post for Tech 7.

“Build” is one of those words that you hear so often that it doesn’t need a definition. I would best describe it as “putting a bunch of parts together to make something new.” I’m not good at defining things, ok? 🙁

Anyway, I’ve built things before using Legos. I’ve actually built a ton of stuff using Legos so I can’t be very specific here. So here is a general description of it:

For the most part, I feel content when I build, but every so often I will get really frustrated because my epic mechanism that I spent 20 minutes on does not work. >:(

I usually build alone, and I keep most of the things I build. I break some if they are bad.

but anyway, that’s it for now.
