i dont think the sailers were going to drop fival and his brother into the water. when they here a boom boom boom i think it the twin towers. when was this book made?
The story takes place in 1920.
I think that those sailors are really mean and I was scared that they were going to drop Fivel or Benyomin. I’m so glad that they made it to the statue of liberty because that means they are really close to freedom. I really want to know who was throwing the bombs.
I thought when Benyomin was hung over the railing that they were gonna drop him into the water but I was wrong about that and when they heard all the booms I think that they might be fire works.
I wonder if they will be able to find Pa in America or if they are going to have to live somewhere else during this war. I also wonder if one of the siblings or even Ma is going to get killed in the crossfire and how that might affect the story. I also wonder if Rifka will play a big part in the story and if she does what will she do.
I don’t know what war it is but I hope that they can escape it. I also think that benyimon and fivel are very lucky that the sailors didn’t throw them off the ship. A lot of people disrespected the people that were less fourtanet then them so they would usually do something to them.
I think that there isn’t a war going on and Ma and everyone are just misunderstanding things.
I feel bad for Fivel and his brother. I’m scared for their whole family because they were caught in a war.
I think the boom is either the fireworks or the steam coming from the boilers that go threw a thing that force it to make sound like the boom. They have to release the steam because the engine doesn’t heed steam anymore, so they need to be exhausted or the boilers will explode. They will have fireworks it it is July forth.

I think that if Fivel did not start yelling they would have been thrown off the ship.
Those sailors. Nuh-uh. Who do they think they are?!?! (Probably rich people). Trying to drown little kids. I mean, sure, it was wrong for Fivel and Benyomin to sneak into there. But drowning little kids. Jesus! I don’t think that the Twin Towers were being attacked because 9/11 was in 2001. And, as Mrs. McCarren said, this story took place in 1920. And it couldn’t have been World War I because that ended in 1918.
I think the booms might be the horns on the boat. I also think that pa will be waiting for them at the shore of New York. I don’t think that those booms had anything to do with a bomb because WW1 ended in 1918 and WW2 started in 1939. But I warn you all bad things are a bout to happen.
I don’t understand how the sailors could do such a horrible thing they did to Benyomin and Fivel! In the immigration padlet, one thing I predicted right was that Fivel’s life here might not be better. I just can’t believe that there is war in America! I wonder what will happen next.

that chapter was crazy! i kind of know that the sailors wouldn’t drop them, but it made scared anyway. i am happy though that they got to america. I was shocked that they are in another war though. bad luck.
I feel like Benyamin and Fivel have been in so many life-death situations that they know how to escape them every time! I also highly doubt that there was another war, It probably was just the boat bumping into the dock or Ellis Island.
