I feel like Fill is kind of mean now like how he laughed at the boy the loudest out of the whole class. When he said the bad word but the boys did that to Fill to so I still feel bad for him and when the boys thought that the speech that he gave was made up that probably made him feel bad because he wants to be a real American he said that he wanted to be born in America so he would not feel different.

I think Fival is Happy because there is a new kid and the mean ones are being mean to the new kid not fival. I think Fival is a nice boy but if he was really nice he would help the new kid and tell him not to say those words. I think Fival’s teacher told him to stay after because he was being rude and because she is probaly going to tell him remember when that was you?

I feel like the book was better in the beginning. I think that everybody at their school is so mean and I cant imagine anyone a t Greenacres doing that. I’m glad that their no making fun of Fivel as much but not happy that they are now making fun of other kids. I really liked his speech and I thought it was funny that no one knew what Fivel was saying. I wonder what will happen next.

I don’t like Fivel anymore. I think that he has turned into a bully. He shouldn’t care about becoming American or being teased. He should’ve helped and been nice to Pekko. He should have told them about his past and not cared what they thought. He should be proud of his heritage instead of trying to bury his past. When someone laughs at him he should stand up for himself. He should tell them how they don’t know how it is to live how he has had to live.

I think that Phil is going to get in trouble for gluing. I think this because he was once in the same position that Pekka is in now. I also think that they will become good friends. I also think that Phil is going to regret trining to wipe his memory of the shetl away because it is a gift to know more than other people and he can teach them and show them is culture.

I think FIVEL is really turning … bad? First, FIVEL is ashamed of the shetel and his life in Poland, like when FIVEL said he want to be born in America. I think that there is nothing to be ashamed of, because it is FIVEL’s family history, and also millions of people live that way. It is not the fault of FIVEL’s family that they live there, it is just the reality. Plus, it can teach FIVEL important lessons like never waste anything, help others …… And it can be a learning chance for other students of what life is in Poland at the time too. Second, FIVEL should be ashamed of himself. Because he even laghed at the Finland boy even though he knows how it feel to be teased like. For example, he is tricked to say bad words, he knows how Yosig felt, but FIVEL still think that is funny! FIVEL should stand up for that boy instead of laughing. Third, I don’t know why FIVEL hates his name, it just a name that stand for the hope of FIVEL’s family.

It is like that Fivel starts from a good point, turns a little, turns again, and then I hope that the talk with the teacher can turn Fivel to a good person again, turning him back to the line of the starting point.

Haha Phil doesn’t know what a sheriff is? That’s a terrible taunt.wanna hear a better one?
Haha Phil knows what it’s like to not belong and when a person like him shows up, instead of helping him, he takes pleasure in his humiliation!!!

I do not think Fivel is acting nice. He should be nice because he knows what it feels like to be the new kid. I think Fivel felt really uncomfortable doing the speech.

I think Phil is turning mean and I think it is very cool that he has had such an experience but he doesn’t. I think Phil deserves to get in trouble. He is just as mean as the other boys and I really feel bad for Yusig still. I think Pecka might be a nice boy though. Fivel or Phil, should play with him. I think that Pecka kept his name because he liked being different and he wanted to remember who he was. He wanted to remember himself unlike Fivel who wants to forget. I can’t wait to read what will happen when he stays after school.

Fivel, sorry, Phil is trying to fit in, just like all the other kids. But he doesn’t have to. He should have made friends with that boy Pekka. And Fivel should have just said that he wasn’t making the story up. I’m wondering what Mrs. Fiebiger is going to say to Fivel. Probably a good talking-to.

I think Fivel is turning mean. When he laughed hard, the teacher must’ve noticed and thought he was tat cause of the curse. Those boys who told him he made the story up re mean. I think Fivel should’ve just said the truth. I think Ma should call the kids by their American names, because that’s what they want.

Phil/Fivel is not a good kid anymore. I mean he was in the same postion as Pecca and now he is laughing at him.. I also think the teacher is going to yell at him.

I wonder why Fivel is now bullying Pekka after he knew what it felt like to get bullied. After getting bullied by the other boys in his class I think he is glad that they now have someone else to pick on and some of that mean spirit inside of him is returning from when he used to bully Yusig but I really thought after Yusig died he would have known better because now he should know that just like him and Yusig, Pekka just wants to fit in. Also when he first joined the class Jeanette was nice to him so he should have done the same thing for Pekka

I think Fivel is being to observant and is taking his observations and anger and turning it into bullying.

I feel like Fivel might become one of those bullying kids. But I’m not really sure, because Fivel probably just wants to fit in like everyone else.
