Heather’s Personal Essay

Most people think that friends are just friends, plain old friends, but friends are 100% more important than you think, because you can tell them anything, they invite you to play with them, and most of all they make you feel better. Read on, to find out why these things make friends  100% more important than you think. I hope buy the end you agree with me that friends are 100% more important than you think.

The first reason that friends are 100% more important than you think is that, you can tell them anything. For example, one day at school I was having a fight with someone, than Joanna (one of my friends and sister) came up to me and asked,” What is wrong?” Even though I was upset I still managed to tell her the whole story without telling her,” I do not want to finish the story. Goodbye.” That is one example that I told my friend something I didn’t want to, but I did. My friends are there for me. My friends are there when I am hurt. . My friends are like my sheids.

The second reason that friends are 100% more important than you think is, they invite you to play with them. One time I let someone in, and someone let me in. I asked Joanna (because she was the mom, in the game),” Can I play family with you?”

In response she said,” Yes. What do you want to be?”

I answered,”Great. Can I be the youngest baby or just a baby please?”

Joanna said,” You can be the youngest baby, now let’s play.”

“Great,” I said. As I looked around I saw Cami, who looked lonely. So I went over and asked her,” Do you want to play family with me?”

She responded,”Yes.”

“ Great,” I said “What do you want to be, I am the youngest baby?”

Cami said,” Can I be your twin.” So I asked Joanna and she said,”Yes.”So I told Cami the good news and then we all played happily together. My friends are there when I am scared. My friends make me laugh. My friends never doubt me.

Even though my friends invite me to play with them, and you can tell them anything. The most important reason that friends are 100% more important than you think is, that they make you feel better. One example of this was that I was hungry and I had nothing to eat, even my snack was stolen earlier in the day. I told Joanna, and first she offered me her snack, that she had not ate yet. I turned away the offer though, that was a bad choice though, I guess I wanted real food (like fruits and vegetables.) Later she tried again, but this time offered me her banana. I turned away the offer. Again. Finally at the end of recess, Joanna convinced me to go ask Mrs. Newnan (the lunch aid) for something to eat. Guess what I got. A banana, how funny is that. I could have taken Joanna’s when she first offered it to me. My friends are there whenever I need them. My friends are inspiring. My friends are trustful.

I can tell my friends anything. My friends let me play with them. Most of all, my friends make me feel better. My friends are good friends. These are just some of the reasons why friends are 100% more important than you think. There are a ton more so go find them. Well you are at it, go find one of your friends and say,” Thank you.”

Picture of friends. Friends are like cookies and cupcakes, sweet.  Friends are 100% more important than you think.

Title What the future holds

Source Scholastic News Kids Press Corps

Article Date 3/27/18

Summary Vinay and his friends entered a future contest called, The Future City Competition. This competition has been going on for 26 years. This year’s future assignment was “ The Age-Friendly City.” This designing competition requests skill and imagination. You had to make a city that older people can live in. Only grade six – eight can enter. 44,000 people entered, but only a few people got chosen for the finals, gratefully vinay and his team were one of them. The finals were held in Washington D.C. First place went to “Halona.” That was Vinay’s team! When Vinay got asked a question after he won, one of his answers were,” Not only does it teach you engineering, but it also teaches you qualities that you need in life, like public speaking, leadership skills, and teamwork.” for winning 1st place Vinay and his crew got a free trip to U.S. Space Camp and $7,500 for their schools STEM program.

Personal Response I chose this article because I like the future, and to me the future sounds better then now. I think this article matters because the future might hold bad or good things, so it is important to get a sense of what the future holds.

My Food Chain

An ecosystem is a source of energy that animals live on, then it starts the food chain, because all animals need energy to live, so all animals rely on plants or other animals for energy.  All food chains end in decomposers. Decomposers are things that decompose other things, For example, worms decompose animals and molds decompose food, or leaves. Decomposers are helpful to the environment because,  if they weren’t  there there would be junk all over the place, and that wouldn’t be good. The sun is the main force of energy, so all ecosystems start with the sun because it is a ball of gas so it doesn’t need to get energy anywhere else. If one animal runs out/ is extinct, the whole ecosystem can go wrong and no animal can get its energy, so then it can’t live.

Reading With Mr. DeBerry and 4B

In reading with Mr. Debery we learned some of the aspects of reading non-fiction, then we went into teams and worked on some extreme weather and Mr. Debery used a book called Everything Weather  and taught us about all extreme weather, to help us in our research.

In  the teams we had to use teamwork, I think our team did a good job with teamwork not so sure about the other teams, because I was never in them we stuck with our group the whole time. When we were doing it we had homework, homework was sort of fun because of that for three reasons, one you did not know when the other teammates were going on, and if you see that they are on the same time as you it is more fun, another reason is that there is a lot of slides and it is fun to see what other people write in the same topic but in a different point of view.

When I started doing my slide I just could not stop, I was enjoying it that  much, so when we stopped I was soooo upset I just wanted to write more, that is not bad is it? Anyways so when I got home my head was exploding with ideas, I could not wait to write them down, so I went straight to my room and onto my bed to go on my chromebook and wrote them all down, I was relieved I finally got to write them down on my slide now my head was not exploding with ideas any more but I still wanted to write more so I pushed my mind to think of more ideas, and when I thought of them I wrote them down fast so I would not forget, even if they had to be really really sort bullet points, and after I could not think of any more bullets to write down I fixed all the spelling errors, and I tell my family what I wrote about, and even one time I read it to my cat/kitten, Ruby. Another thought about teamwork is that sometimes it is hard to work in a team because weird stuff happens (sometimes by accident) like in our group someone (no names) changed the we eventually fixed it, but it was still a disaster.

In our Non-fiction unit with Mr. DeBerry we learned, how to choose the right book, like the 5 finger rule (which is not my favorite, but I still like it enuf to use it.) Another thing that we learned was how to tell, how books are organized and that was fun because I like being organized in general.  We also learned about text structures, and summaries, and “ spark questions”, how notes are not full sentences, and when you are takings notes you can use a thing called a Word bank, it is not a bank with words (sadly), but here is an example, if you were talking about castles, one word in your word bank might be kingdom. The most important thing for me was how authors have goals and achieve them, (author’s craft.) Watch my flipgrid to learn more. Here is a link to it.   My flipgrid feel free to comment, I would love that. Here is a link to my slide.

My Food Web

An ecosystem is a place where living and non living things interact with each other to survive. The animals are part of the food chain because all animals need energy to live.  Animals rely on plants or other animals for energy.  All food chains end in decomposers. Decomposers are things that decompose other things, For example, worms decompose animals and molds decompose food or leaves and make mushrooms in the process. Decomposers are helpful to the environment because they remove unwanted stuff from the environment and return its energy to the earth . The sun is the main force of energy, so all food webs start with the sun.  The sun is a ball of gas so it doesn’t rely on anything or anyone else to get it’s energy. If one animal becomes extinct, the whole ecosystem can go wrong. Then the secondary consumers may not be able to get their food.

Amelia Earhart

The important thing about Amelia Earhart

                                                 By, Heather Schutzer

“ We’re running North to South” These were the last words ever heard from her ,again, it was received at exactly 8:45 a.m. July 2, 1937.  Amelia Earhart was born on July 24, 1897 in Atchison, Kansas.

The important thing about Amelia Earhart is that she did things  that no other woman was able to accomplish before her.  Before Amelia ever started flying, she went on a flight, it was in 1920.  Amelia’s first flying teacher was Neta Snook, Amelia bought her first airplane in 1921 and claimed the “Canary.” After she got the plane she was breaking a lot of records like the women’s altitude record of 14,000!  Amelia Earhart  was the first woman to fly across the Atlantic Ocean, solo, But Amelia didn’t decide to do it, a man named George Putman did, he wanted Amelia to be the first woman to fly across the Atlantic Ocean, and then Amelia agreed to the plan on June 17, 1928. When she did it, she made it in 20 h and 40 mins, non stop. She made many more flights like this one after, that were very risky. Now it was time for her last flight, an attempt to fly around the whole globe. She started the attempt on June 1,  1937, Miami, Florida, but on her way to Howland Island, her plane crashed, and know one ever found her, even today people still haven’t found her., she reported that she was running out of fuel. Can you believe that she did a lot of this because, well she loved flying, and she thought girls and boys to men and women are equ

I’m Back

I’m Back!!

Are you excited to read some new posts of mine? Because I’m ready to write them, I’m back!

I love swimming, I’m even on a swim team called Badgers, it’s so much fun. I had my first swim meet two weeks ago, on Sunday, and even though I didn’t get 1, 2, or 3ed my coach said I did very well and either way I was proud of myself, but this week I got 2ed on 50 breaststroke,  my best stroke.

I also love, love, love traveling, I love traveling to new places, one of my favorite family traditions is to go to Nevis during Winter Break. It’s so much fun there because it’s warm and I get to see monkeys ( my favorite animals ever!) and sometimes monkey families.

I love cats and kittens. I used to have a cat, but she died when I was in 1st grade. Now I have a kitten who is smaller and healthy and she’s a alley cat, her name is Ruby, but I call her Rubiny or cutey.

 by, Kitten Lady

I love learning because I get to learn something new every day and I like that, I also want to be a teacher when I grow up so I have to learn and love school to do that.

I sure hope you’re ready to read my new posts, this year, be sure to comment about what you think about my posts, and if you want comment about suggestions about what I can do to make it better I don’t care because I love revising, see you when I write my next post! Bye.
