Resistance by Jenifer A. Neilson- Character Ideas

In the book Resistance by Jenifer A. Neilson, I think that there is a lot of information to be known about the main character Chaya. Chaya is a Polish-Jewish girl living during the Nazi occupation in Poland. She refused to accept to live in one of the ghettos and eventually be brought to an extermination camp so before she was about to leave her family to go to a ghetto,  so she escaped. She joined a resistance group and stayed in it for years. This situation made Chaya a very tough person and she expects things highly from others. This is important because throughout the story these are the main traits she applies to her partner, somebody who isn’t tough and makes lots of mistakes.

I think this could be applied as a theme in many books when the book’s main characters are friends or partners who are different. Some things that are different are worse than others. This leads me to think that from beginning to end the characters even each other out and learn the good things from each other. This brings them closer together. This is shown from beginning to end when Chaya and Lesther; two complete

The Name of This Book is Secret by Pseudonymous Bosch

In the book, The Name of This Book is Secret an idea I had about the main character Cassandra, is because she is a survivalist that trait can lead to other traits as well. This is important because I think that this idea, expanded to be “Throughout stories characters discover new things about themselves” can be applied to many stories as a theme. For example, in Home of the Brave, we discovered that Ganwar was not hopeful and we connected that trait to Ganwar going through a lot and being the opposite of Keks innocent youthful personality.

Welcome to 5th Grade!

The last 18 months have been kind of crazy but even then 4th grade was so far my favorite year because the whole grade got to build a smaller size of a wooden boat based in the Boston Tea Party.

My hopes for 5th grade are very high because of that reason. Something in 5th grade I am really looking forward to is all the special events that 5th graders get to participate in. For example, today was backward day and everybody is wearing their clothes backward. Other events that I am excited about are Feild day, the 5th grade Halloween party, and the End of the Year Pizza Party.

Overall I think fifth grade will be a very fun year!

Watching Jane

Yesterday I watched a National Geographic called Jane. It was about Jane Goodall. I liked the film and learned lots of new things. One of them is that Chimpanzees the animals she studied demonstrate their feelings sort of like humans do and that they spend hours cleaning themselves. Although at the begining of the movie I thought it was slow and boring because it was all step by step unlike in a movie. Overall I liked watching the movie Jane.

Teaching Chrome Music Lab to our Buddies

I think that teaching chrome music lab to my buddie was fun because for once I was the one teaching my buddie. I also think it was fun because we got to just relax and make music and share it with each other. I really liked doing this project with my buddie even though it was a little hard to teach my buddie how to use chrome music lab. Overall I really liked this project and would like to do it again.

Character Traits Letter

Dear Ms.Boyer,

Today I will be introducing you to the character Ruth Handler. She was the person who created Barbie dolls. I think to do that she would have to be very creative because Barbie is so popular so she had to make sure it stayed popular she had to make sure there were new clothing/hair coming up all the time and she was the person who had to do that alot. I think another trait she has is hard-working. I think that because at first her store only sold jewelry and plastic candles but she worked hard enough to be able to turn her company into a famous toy company that was very successful! I think another important trait Ruth Handler has is passion and perseverance. I think that because she never gave up on her dreams of creating dolls that were not just for playing but for being role models for girls. Ruth wanted Barbies to be an influence for girls to tell them they can be anything they want to be. I hope  this information was helpful.

yours sincerely,

Isabella

Story Cubes

Once upon a time there was a rich man who loved listening to music. He was always very mad. He took pills to make him happy again but he became too happy and exploded. When he came back to life he landed in Egypt at midnight. Once he was in Egypt, he started to cry so he threw a ball up in the air and it made him feel a little bit better. The wanted to get back to his mansion so he took a job as a weightlifter. After he had enough money he bought an iPhone and called his servant. His servant came to pick him up in a parashoot. And he lived a normal life.

Maglev#2

Today in science we made maglev trains. A maglev train is a train that levitates by magnetic repulsion. I worked in a group. Our idea for the train track was to put strip magnets with disk magnets on top and the same thing for the train.

That did not work. The problem was that the magnets on the track were flipping over and attracting. So we asked for help. That is when we got the idea to tape the disk magnets on so it would not flip over. It did not work. At that point I was starting to think we could not do it but I tried one more time. That time we took off all the strip magnets on everything.

Sadly when we tested it did not work. I feel like on these tries my group needed to help each other more. Finally on the fifth try we got it. On that try we did everything with strip magnets the track had about 8 magnets divided equally on each side. On the train we did the same thing but only with 2 magnets divided equally.

The next step was putting weight on the train. My group wanted to start off easy so we started with two. Eventually we made our way to thirty six weights. Overall I liked this experiment.
