This week, I decided to read “2020 State of the Union: Trump plans optimistic address.” The article is about how when he has his State of the Union, he will use it to his advantage by saying all the positive things he has done. This is his third State of the Union address and it has taken place yesterday, on February 4, 2020. The theme of this State of the Union is all about the “great American comeback”, and is about Trump’s policies with healthcare, immigration, and national security, as well as economic boosts. Trump will likely talk about his “phase one” trade with China and also about the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement, or USMCA. The USMCA is something he signed this week and he will also likely talk about efforts tO secure the U.S. southern border with Mexico. The State of the Union also had plans to talk about how Trump’s administrations have boosted the economy by cutting taxes, rolling back regulations, and securing trade agreements. He also want to put forward an agenda which is focused mainly on the necessities of working families, and addressing issues that affect the quality of lives of Americans and trying to figure out solutions in a positive way.
It is good that he is trying to smooth out his reputation by saying positive things he has done and being optimistic, but I also think that it won’t work. He is focusing on good issues by making them more mainstream, with working families and the economy of America, which affects almost all the people in America if combined. This State of the Union probably will make more people on his side. However, he’s only focusing on positive things that he and his administration have done, so there is a whole perspective that is being left out.
