PSA Reflection

This year we did a PSA project and I really enjoyed it. PSA stands for Public Service Announcements. We were supposed to pick an ecosystem to do the PSA and I picked Oceans. Once we picked an ecosystem we researched our ecosystem. After, our research we made a script for our PSA. Before we started our Wevideo we made a storyboard. Once we finished our storyboard we started our Wevideo. The wevideo was fun and it was hard but before are final draft we had to do a couple of other drafts to get it perfect.

I had a fun time doing my Wevideo project and I want to help my ecosystem survive the pollution. The reason we did a PSA is because we want people to help our ecosystem to become a better place. I had so much fun doing this Wevideo and I hope people all over the world help my ecosystems.

Samuel Adams

Samuel Adams

This year I researched about Samuel Adams. I was interested in him because he was a part of the American Revolution. Samuel Adams was a strong men. I wanted to see what challenges he faced as a child and an adult.

Childhood

Samuel Adams was born in Boston, Massachusetts, on September 27, 1722. Samuel had a brother named, John Adams. As a boy, Samuel studied at Boston Latin School. Samuel went to Harvard College when he was 14 years old. After graduating college, he studied law for a short time. Samuel’s father was a church minister.

Samuel got his name, (Samuel Adams) from his father.

Adult Life

Samuel never wanted to learn how to ride a horse. Samuel was scared to talk about independence, but by 1775 Samuel was talking openly about independence. Samuel was on the top of the Kings “most wanted” list of american traitors. Adams went to work as a businessman. Adams took a job as a tax collector in Boston in 1756. Samuel represented Massachusetts at the Second Continental Congress. Samuel worked to get the first United States Constitution approved. Samuel helped form a group called, The Sons of Liberty. The Sons of Liberty was started to fight for their independence from Great Britain. Samuel Adams died on October 2, 1803, in Boston, Massachusetts.

Challenges

He was born at the time Great Britain ruled Massachusetts and other American Colonies. Samuel didn’t want to learn how to ride a horse so, he had to travel another way, when everybody else rode horses. As a tax collector, Samuel learned about Britain’s unfair taxes. Adams often took extreme steps to fight British laws.

Impact On The World

Samuel fought in battles for our independence, and he helped American soldiers fight the British. Samuel was included in the American Revolution. Samuels work helped form the United States. Samuel continued to be a part of American politics even after the War of Independence ended.

Ocean 2018

This year we got to pick our own ecosystem to research on. Personally, I picked the ocean because I have been interested in ocean life since I was little. The ocean is unique because it is home to many different species.

Producers, consumers, and decomposers are all a part of the ocean. Some Producers are algae, coral, seaweed, and plankton. Some consumers are sharks, whales, dolphins, walruses, seals, octopie, orcas, manta rays, eels, and polyp. Finally, one decomposer is Bacterioplankton.

You can find an ocean all over the world. Oceans cover almost 71 percent of the Earth’s surface. Tiny plants and animals are called plankton. Plankton supports every food chain in the ocean and lives in places such as coral reefs. Coral reefs are actually made from hard skeletons of small animals called coral polyps.

Colonial America Book Reflection

In Heathcote Elementary School, my class was assigned to make a Colonial America book. It was a long process of taking notes, planning my writing, writing my draft, typing my doc, and pasting it on to my google slides. Before we started our book, Mrs. Rickard gave us our topics. My topic was daily life of colonial women. First, I took notes and collected Information for my topic. Then, I planned out my writing and did my draft on paper. Next, I typed my draft on my doc. Last, I pasted my writing that was on my doc into my google slide. Finally, I did my pictures doc, bibliography, and glossary. The process took patience. My favorite part was making my google slide because I liked organizing the text and images.

I learned a lot from this experience. I used to only know a little about Colonial America, but now I know a lot about Colonial America. To get my information, I read books, articles, and websites. I used to think Colonial America wasn’t very interesting, but now that I know a lot about it I think it’s very interesting. The most challenging part for me was my chapter 1 because I had to organize my notes and make a chapter with them. I learned that I can handle a difficult progress of making a book. If I did this project again I would find more words to put in my glossary because I want to teach kids more words and meanings.

This is my Colonial America Book and I hope you enjoy it:

Colonial Day 2017

At Heathcote elementary school in 4th grade you have colonial day. It is when you get the full experience of colonial times. Dame school was my favorite activity because it was funny how they treated the girls with more respect  then the boys. I learned that instead of using pencils to write you would use a feather and ink. I want to learn more about the sheep wool. They served us pie, mashed potatoes, and corn bread. The dancing back then was very different then the dancing now. The activities we had were stenciling, candle making, dame school, toys and games, cooking and textiles, music, and dance. Colonial times is different from now because they didn’t have electronics like we do now. To play, they couldn’t go on electronics to play video games. and to contact each other you would need to talk in person. It was so much fun.

Curiosity Project – Sea Animals

At the start of 4th grade we had to do ”Curiosity Projects.” I chose sea animals as my topic because I know a lot about land animals so, I thought I would try to learn about sea animals. A Curiosity Project is where you study a topic that you don’t know a lot about. I hope we can do another Curiosity Project sometime again. I hope you enjoy my project.
