Maglev Reflection – Day 2

On day 2 we found a magnet that worked but when we tried to push the train the other way it didn’t work. We kept on trying and trying but we always fail. The magnet that we used was the strip magnet. It was very challenging and frustrating because we had a lot of arguments. Another problem was the magnets always attract on the side. We learned we could always learn from our mistakes.

Maglev Reflection – Day 1

In our science unit we’ve been studying about magnets and transportation engineers. We are trying to make our own maglev trains. We planned how to make the Maglev trains by drawing pictures and listing the materials we were going to use. The hard part is that sometimes it doesn’t work but we keep on trying. The first materials we used were: bar magnets, the track, the box and the square foam (train).  We failed the first time because the bar magnets were too weak and the train was resting on the bar magnets, also the magnets were attracting. The next materials we used were: ring magnets, the track, and the square foam. That didn’t work also because it was also resting on the ring magnets and we forgot to check if the side they were laying down on were north or south. Today we’re probably going to use the disc magnets because that’s the only one that is strong.
