I think that after studying all the different types of plastics I have learned that we have different types of plastic for different uses depending on their properties. Some plastics are used over others due to expense, durability, and food safety. For example you cannot use all different types of plastics for food containers because some are food safe and others are not. Plastic type 1 is what we use for berry containers and some bottles because it is cheap and food safe, but plastic type 6 we cannot use for food purposes because it will put a bad chemical in the food making it poisonous. It’s also important to know which plastics are good and bad for the environment. Plastic type 6 is bad for the environment and cannot be recycled whereas other plastic types are recyclable and good for the environment. It is important to know which types of plastics are good and bad for the environment so we use the ones that are good and recyclable.
