This weekend on Saturday two astronauts in a Space X rocket were launched into space to the space station. This is a big deal because it is the first time since 2011 that American astronauts have been to space in an American made and launched rocket. Before this the only way to get to the space station was through the Russian space program Roscsomos. It is also a big deal for two other reasons: it is the first time that a private space company has sent a rocket with people into space and that the rocket that was launched is reusable and can be launched again. Space X is a company founded and created by Elon Musk for profit unlike NASA which is government ran and government funded. This might explain the reason why Space X has been innovating more and creating better rockets than NASA in the past. NASA and no other government space programs have rockets that can be reused like Space X. Reusable rockets are the future of space travel because it cuts the cost of going to space by a lot and makes the process of launching rockets faster. When Russia sends a rocket into space that rocket eventually ends up in the ocean so that means that next time they want to launch a rocket they must build a new new one (Which takes a while) then they must get it ready for takeoff. Whereas Space X only has to get the reused rocket ready for takeoff again. In the future we can expect the United States of America to be the leading country in space travel because of the private sector in the space industry that other countries lack.
