Capstone #7 (Presenting and reflecting)

I was really nervous to present, but I was able to control it. It was a big challenge to stop my legs from shaking but for some reason, my voice did not. That was a big mystery to me. I learned how to keep calm when I present. I also learned how to project my voice. I also learned not to speed but to slow it down so everyone understands me. I think that capstone took lots of research but I enjoyed presenting. I liked to share my knowledgeย  with others. Listening to other peoples capstone helped me a lot because I could learn from their mistakes. Like if someone was speaking too quiet, I can learn from them to speak loud.

I looked to see what other people did good, as well, so I can try to do that in MY presentation. I think I did a pretty good job making eye contact with people and not looking down at my script. I worked really hard on this, and it payed off. But a challenge for me was to speak up in the beginning.ย  I was a little nervous and that is what probably caused it. I was actually ok after that.

I am really proud of myself andย  I am actually glad I practiced so much. I did not know what I was worrying about earlier before I presented. I had a little tongue twisters but overall I think I did good. Capstone was a great experience , and I hope all fifth graders around the world will be able to do Capstone. ๐Ÿ˜€ ๐Ÿ˜€ ๐Ÿ˜€ ๐Ÿ˜€ ๐Ÿ˜€ ๐Ÿ˜€ ๐Ÿ˜€ ๐Ÿ˜€ ๐Ÿ˜€ ๐Ÿ˜€ ๐Ÿ˜€ ๐Ÿ˜€

I knew all of my lines and I am glad I practiced so many times because it really payed off. My biggest problem was being nervous. That is what usually threw me off. I was especially nervous my first presentation. But along the way I learned to stay calm. While I was researching I hit a wall. It was just repetitive information. This was the hardest part of capstone for me. Another hard part was getting the right images. I had to grab different images many times.

Since there was a room completely filled with adults compared to a room half full of kindergardeners, you might see why I was more nervous to present in front of the parents. The pressure was on and no one wanted to mess up on the big day.

  1. You are a very good presenter Jessica! I would never have known your legs were shaking, as you shared your learning in a clear, concise manner! Congratulations!!

    • Thank you Ms. Boyer! Itโ€™s funny how I didnโ€™t see this until now. Iโ€™m visiting Heathcote after break so Iโ€™ll see you then!
