Welcome to 5th Grade!

My 5th grade year has begun! I look forward to the field trip to Philadelphia. I also look forward to going to a Peruvian restaurant with senor Johnson. I am not looking forward to capstone because you have to do lots of research and it will be very hard work. . I am also looking forward to the Halloween party because you get to have fun and eat snacks. My goals are to become a better writer and a better reader. Right now I am thinking that 5th grade will be good, and hopefully I am right!

Goals

My academic goal: Before the school year ends, I want to get better at speaking up in class.

My personal goal: I want to learn better self control and do my homework before I play video games or anything like that.

Heathcote 5th Graders Go To Philadelphia

On November 9th, 2018, Heathcote elementary 5th graders went to Philadelphia for a school trip. They had to wake up early because the bus left at 6 am. on the bus they started to take out their electronic devices and started to play video games. The bus ride was 2 and a half hours. When they got to the constitution center they went to the bathroom and then went inside. They saw a few exhibits and a few shows. Then they had lunch. After lunch they went on a tour with a tour guide for the rest of the trip.

Edcamp Reflection #2

On Thursday, 12/9/18, we had another Edcamp presentation. An Edcamp presentation is when parents come to the school to tell you about their careers and what they do. This time I chose my first one on renewable energy, and I chose my second one on real estate investment. For the first one, it was Andre’s dad talking. He showed us what renewable energy was, and what were, and what weren’t renewable energy. Then he told us what he did for his career. He also brought some small models of renewable energy sources. Wind turbines, solar panels, all of that stuff. He also showed us a few videos on renewable energy. For the second presentation, it was Eli’s dad talking. First he told us what real estate was and what investing was. Then he made up three places and gave statistics about each of them. Then he told us which one you should invest in. Overall, I think that these Edcamp presentations were really interesting and I think I learned a lot.
