Technology Blog Post #4

This week we have been learning about 3D printing. 3D printing starts with a 3D model of something. The model is sent to a 3D printer. The printer has a plate, which moves up and down, a roll of the material you want to print in, which can be plastic, metal, or other things. Then the 3D printer starts by melting the material, and printing out a very small slice of the model, which will cool instantly. The plate lowers, and the printer prints the next slice. Each slice is very thin, so it can take a very long time. After a while, you have a copy of your model. 3D printing has a lot of potential in the future. You can design things on your own, but engineers can print their own parts, and doctors can even print organs. Overall, I think 3D printing is very cool.

Technology Blog Post #3

We learned that trees are very useful. Trees can clean the air, paper is from trees, and many more uses.  Today we learned about how to get usable wood from trees. It’s a pretty long process, and it’s also quite complicated. First, the trees are brought to the factory, where they have their bark removed. After that, they are cut into more manageable sizes. Overall, I think this is pretty interesting.

Building Technology Blog Post #2

What does it mean to build something? Building something is the process of building or creating something. One time I built something was for my 5th grade Rube Goldberg project. It was with two of my friends. I don’t use it anymore, but it was really fun to make. I enjoy making things because I find the process of designing and engineering things very interesting. Building is different from other activities because it requires different skills.

Grade 7 Technology Blog Post #1

9/17/20

A couple of days ago, 7th grade started and I have technology as my first quarterly. Today, during class, we were show the project we will be working on. The project is a surprise box, which on the outside is a normal wooden box with a sliding lid. but when you open it, a critter will pop out of the box. this is done with a contraption relating to the sliding of the lid, although I don’t know how it works, I am excited for it because I like to build things.

Scratch game design

Recently, we were supposed to make our own games in scratch. We had three options. A flappy bird game, a pong game, or a maze game. We were also supposed to check out our classmates games. One game I really liked was Tavish’s maze game. It was very fun because it was different from your typical maze game. There was the maze part, but there was also a square, floating around in the maze that would send you back to the beginning if you touched it. It added some challenge, which was really fun.

Learn to code 2

I really liked a lot of the lessons that I did. But, some of the later lessons were a little frustrating to me. For example, the algorithms and while loops lessons were really frustrating. I did not really understand how it worked, but eventually I figured it out. Overall, I really enjoyed learn to code 1.

Music video

In computer technology, we are currently working on a project called music video. in this project, our goal is too animate something and add music to it. I have finished my project, and I think it is pretty good. I made a moving background, which is synchronized to the movement of the cat in the foreground. I also added some music to go along with the animation. I think you should check it out.

About Me Project

In computer tech, we are making an about me project.  You put stuff where you expect the reader to tap them and learn stuff about you. I put fruits, because fruits are awesome, and I put a violin because I play the violin. I also drew a video game controller because I like to play video games. I have some more big ideas for my project. It might come out soon so look forward to it.
