WE THE PEOPLE: THESE ARE YOUR RIGHTS BY ADAM LAMBERT

I think the most important right for a citizen to have is the 10th amendment which reserves you the power to do any of the other amendments which are not reserved to the country or prohibited to states. I think it is important because if it wasn’t there, you wouldn’t have any rights or restrictions and everybody would be able to do whatever they want, it would be legal to shoot somebody or drop a nuclear bomb. For a student, I think the 1st amendment is the most important because it gives you the right to speech, press, assembly, religion, and petition. Without this, we wouldn’t be able to gather, speak, and do many other things, which wouldn’t allow us to learn or change the future world! It is also important for religion because it allows people of color to go to school.

I think all citizens should have the same rights, otherwise, it would be unfair to many people. If people of color didn’t have the same rights they do today, the world would not be the same as it is today. Also, it would not be good if some citizens overpowered other citizens and cause a revolution. There would also be many more protests, and people would become angry, and they will become violent protests. I think the second amendment should be limited, because nobody needs automatic guns, what’s the point of having guns. Back then guns were used for many different things unlike now, where people normally use guns for bad things, I don’t get why anybody needs automatic guns. People should only be able to have normal guns, which are not automatic and are used for hunting. Only the army should be allowed to use automatic guns.

Sometimes, people and the government change our rights and tell us what we can and can’t do. This is very unfair and people shouldn’t be able to do this because it is limiting our rights which are invading our rights.

“Stronger” by Janelle Monae

Here is the link to Stronger.

In this post, I will be sharing my thoughts and opinions about “Stronger” by Janelle Monae.

To me, this song means that the “we” in We the People is starting to include everybody and is growing stronger. “We” used to tell white wealthy land-owning men, but now it is beginning to mean Women, and people of all colors, and their voice is starting to get stronger and to stand out. An example is a part which states “Most of my friends want a little peace. Some of my friends want a little solace. Even when we struggle and we get kicked down. We pick each other up with a little polish. All of my friends want a legacy. Don’t wanna be left out. Every time you think we get a little weak. We get a little bit stronger” This shows that people are starting to help each other, where it states, “Even when we struggle and we get kicked down. We pick each other up with a little polish.” Proof that people don’t want to be left out and they are growing stronger is when it states, “Most of my friends want a little peace. Some of my friends want a little solace.” and “Every time you think we get a little weak. We get a little bit stronger.”

The song makes me feel like everybody is starting to be included, which makes me pretty happy, and want to stand up for other people. It energizes me so I can help the people who are starting to be included but are not yet included. It also makes me feel good when the song states “Every time you think we get a little weak. We get a little bit stronger.” The artist may be saying that WE are starting to get included and WE are getting stronger. The lyrics relate to the study of the government because only white, wealthy, land-owning men were part of we, but now WE are so many more people and is a lot stronger than it was before. This is what the song is about and it was explaining how it was important, and how other people felt because of this. I have no questions about the song because Janelle Monae did a great job expressing and delivering her message.

Personal Narrative and Reflection

One technique that I used in my writing that was effective is good transitions. An example from my narrative is, “I think you know what happened next…” Another example of a good transition is, “And then came the water balloons…” I think these are good transitions because they allow me to skip from one important moment to another. One more transition that I used a few times is, “2 minutes later” or, “5 minutes later.” I like this transition a lot.

One thing I want to improve is internal thinking. I want to improve on Internal thinking so people can understand the main character’s feelings and connect with the character more. I want the reader to experience what is happening in a lot of detail. For example, I want them to feel how the water balloon, completely bounced off my skin without hurting me, and it did nothing.

Something I am very proud of is the dialogue, I think it added a lot of detail and tells the reader what is happening without telling them directly. One example of dialogue in my narrative is, “Oh you’re in for it,” I grinned! I am also very proud of how many Transitions that I used. One example of a good transition is, “And then came the water balloons… I picked up a water balloon and said, “Some people are still eating: don’t touch the water balloons yet or I’ll throw this at you!” This was a bad idea and caused chaos.

Aru Shah by Roshani Chokshi #3

In the book Aru Shah by Roshani Chokshi, I think that because the Pandavas all want to build a relationship they fight a lot better together because they know each other’s powers and strategies. One example of this is when they get trapped in the ginormous holes with the monsters and have to fight them. They used the strategy that they have been practicing and communicated through their mind link to think of how to get through its impenetrable skin. I think a lesson the author may be trying to teach us is building relationships is important in life and friends will always help you. Not only does this apply to the book but in reel life, you should always build relationships and make friends as they will help you if you have a problem: or make you smile when you are sad. Another example of this is when they were in the Ocean of Milk and had to make decisions together very quickly. The only reason that they survived is that they knew each other well, so Aru could think of what they can do to get the magical bow and arrow: and still survive.

Aru Shah by Roshani Chokshi #2

In Aru Shah by Roshani Chokshi, I think Aru likes spending time with her sisters and friend to build strong relationships. She also put her life on the line a couple of times for her sisters and friend. An example of her building relationships with her sisters and friend is when she meets her new sisters and she goes along with what they are saying even though it might be wrong, or a bit mean: she wanted to welcome her new sisters. An example of her putting her life on the line is when she went to save her friends from the gigantic monster which was very dangerous. Another example of this is when she decided that they needed to get Mini, on their way to save her: she sacrificed her life for Aiden who might have died. She did this on a countless number of occasions: this shows that she is unselfish and very kind to her sisters and friends.

Aru Shah by Roshani Chokshi

In Aru Shah by Roshani Chokshi, I think that Aru has a lot more questions than answers when she is on a quest or in the otherworld. In addition, I think that she wants to find out how to complete and understand each part of a task or quest she has been sent to do: by the gods. An example of this is when she thinks back to the previous task, where the god of the Seas told Aru to see well. Before she was fighting Lady M, the Heartless and Takshaka: she had to see if Lady M was good or bad. This is what the god of the Seas was talking about. Another example of this is when and the other Pandavas have to go to see Lord Indra (god of the heavens and Aru’s father) in the court of the sky. Usually, Pandavas aren’t allowed to see their soul parents: but I think Aru is starting to comprehend that she and the other Pandavas are in trouble for letting the demons hear the prophecy. She is confused and a bit worried about what Lord Indra will say: she also thinks that they are going to get punished, or banned from the Otherworld. I think that the Pandavas like spending time with each other and saving the world from demons: even though they know that they are scared or might mess up.

Welcome to 5th Grade!

Welcome, this is my first blog post in 5th grade. The last 18 months have been pretty chaotic but I have managed to squeeze some fun moments in, like going to Greece. I went to a few islands like Mykonos, Creete, and Santorini, I also had fun in Athens, (besides the 115-degree temperature!) We saw a lot of major landmarks in Greece, like the Knossos temple, Acropolis and Delphi. In addition, I learned a lot about History as I am a fan of Greek mythology.

I am looking forward to playing on the school basketball travel team, as I didn’t have this in any of the prior years at Heathcote. I am looking forward to playing basketball because it is my favorite sport and I think it is very fun when you play it. I am also looking forward to learning a lot of new things and having an awesome time at school. One topic in school that I am excited about, is to do some writing on many new ideas. I am also looking forward to doing some more math as I want to learn more about exponents. Bye!

Memories lyrics

Here’s to the ones that we got
Cheers to the wish you were here but you’re not
‘Cause the drinks bring back all the memories
Of everything we’ve been through
Toast to the ones here today
Toast to the ones that we lost on the way
‘Cause the drinks bring back all the memories
And the memories bring back
Memories bring back you

There’s a time that I remember when I did not know no pain
When I believed in forever
And everything would stay the same
Now my heart feel like December
When somebody say your name
‘Cause I can’t reach out to call you
But I know I will one day
Hey

Everybody hurts sometimes, everybody hurts someday
Eh eh
Everything will be alright, go on raise a glass and say
Eh

Here’s to the ones that we got
Cheers to the wish you were here but you’re not
‘Cause the drinks bring back all the memories
Of everything we’ve been through
Toast to the ones here today
Toast to the ones that we lost on the way
‘Cause the drinks bring back all the memories
And the memories bring back
Memories bring back you
Doo do do doo

Memories bring back
Memories bring back you

There’s a time that I remember when I never felt so lost
When I felt that all the hatred was too powerful to stop
Now my heart feel like an ember
And its lighting up the dark
I’ll carry these torches for ya
That you know I’ll never drop
Yeah

Everybody hurts sometimes, everybody hurts someday
Eh eh
Everything goin be alright, go on raise a glass and say
Eh

Here’s to the ones that we got
Cheers to the wish you were here but you’re not
‘Cause the drinks bring back all the memories
Of everything we’ve been through
Toast to the ones here today
Toast to the ones that we lost on the way
‘Cause the drinks bring back all the memories
And the memories bring back
Memories bring back you
Doo do do doo

Memories bring back
Memories bring back you
Doo do do doo

Memories bring back
Memories bring back you
Yeah yeah yeah

Memories bring back
Memories bring back you

I think it is like a poem because it is rhyming, repeats a lot and uses metaphors. It is also like a poem because the line breaks and the rhythm. The song also has a deeper meaning – feelings for someone who is gone. The singer is sad for someone and wishes that the person is with him. The singer is also trying to calm himself or anyone else who feels like him when he says everything hurts but is going to be alright, or when he says the toasts bring back the memories.

Hardy Boys

This past month I have been reading the Hardy Boys. The two main characters are Frank and Joe Hardy, they are very good detectives. Their dad Fenton Hardy, is a well known detective as he normally gives Frank and Joe cases to work on. I am on book five, HUNTING FOR HIDDEN GOLD.  In this book Frank and Joe go to Montana and are spying on a gang of people who stole gold and are trying to get rid of, Frank, Joe and Fenton Hardy.

Frank and Joe do not give up, they got kidnapped, shot at and got in a few landslides all caused by (the gang).  Frank and Joe knew they were getting spied on so they found a hiding place. They went inside a mine and found the robbers secret hideout! They knew it was there hideout because it said Big Al, the leaders nickname. They knew it was the leaders nickname because their dad told them.  They find out good information by listening to the robbers carefully and hiding. Frank and Joe are very smart and are very good  detectives.
