Tech Week 3

On Tuesday, I worked on my cam, since I wasn’t finished, and did the stick and ovals part of the cam, where you had to put a stick through the the 2 holes on the side of the cam. Once I did that, there were 2 small circles that I had to attach onto the stick, and once they were glued on, I put the big circle on, which makes it easier to use. Wednesday I worked on my cam, and finished the last parts. On thurday I started my crank. I manged to cut 2 pages out on thursday before class ended. On Friday, we had a sub, so we just watched a information movie on automatas.

Tech Week 2

On monday and tuesday we watched a nearpod on wheels and axles.  On Wednesday we worked on our cams. I started to work on the box part of the cam. I finished the box part. What you had to do was glue certain parts of the paper together in order to make it a box. You had to put a tiny dollop of glue on a paper towel, and use a toothpick to apply the glue.  On Friday, since I lost my cam, I had to redo my cam. I did the same steps as before, as I was about to move on to the next step I realized that I had cam A, not cam B. I just contiuned and did the stick part that goes up and down, once you have made the entire cam. Class ended before I could start the next step.

Tech Week 1

The first day we did a survey and a wrote what we wanted to be called. We also discussed inventions, that we thought we couldn’t live without. The second day we discussed simple machines, and touched the subject of levers a bit. The third we discussed about levers. We talked about how to identify what class of lever a lever is, using FLE  123. What ever is in the middle is a certain class lever. On the fourth day, Thursday, we started to work on a paper cam. We learned how to use a slice cutter and cut out papers that would service as our automata. The slice blade like a knife, except the blade was very small. You had to hold it like a pencil, and couldn’t let your arm/hand touch the table. We practiced using the slice cutter on empty parts of the paper. After we were all comfortable with using the slice cutter, we started to cut out the first worksheet. We didn’t cut out the circles since we were going to go over that on Friday. Since I finished my paper cutting before class ended, I started to cut the second worksheet. I had finished by the end of class. On the last day we discussed how to cut the circles and most kids started to work on the second worksheet. But since I finished the worksheet the day before, I started folding the dotted lines on the papers, and soon after class was done.

Week 5 Blog Post

For the first activity on Monday I did an old fashioned math worksheet. On tuesday we were supposed to put these quwestons into big code block, in order to make the math easier. We  learned how to plug in the right codes in order to dave time doing simple but time comsuming math. For the math lesson on the coordinate plane it showed how to makke the blue dot appear on the corridante plane, using coding blocks. For the math lesson on average, it hosed to make the coding blocks figure out the averarge for things. For the social studies lesson on triva, it showed how to use coding blocks to give a flag triva. For the social studies lesson on the countries and continents, it tells us how to make a bird go to a specific country. For the science lesson on density, it shows how to us code in order to figure out how dense the water is. For the science lesson on states of matter, is tells us how to use codng blocks to figure what degree does the ice melt. In the english lesson on fewer and less, it told us how to code a little quiz on using less and fewer. The english lesson about there, their, and they’re, shows us how to use coding blocks to make a little quizlet on how to use the words, there, their, and they’re.

Codes that I learned this week in class and a screen shot of what we did in class:

Week 4 Blog Post

In my project, I tried to ask questions about math, like a quiz. I made my coding look like this:

What I first put was, When actor was clicked. Next I put the blur coding block and added all of my choices. The I put the coding block for if the answer was right or not. I did that for 5 times. The project I picked was Penny’s questions. I liked how for the first question was a multiple choice question, and the rest had to be typed. It was kind of like on homework where the teacher does the first answer with the class and the rest are done on your own. I also liked how when you had to type the answers you had a clock ticking in the background, kind of like a quiz.

Computer Science is Changing Everything Blog Post

The past 3 centuries have focusesd on one thing that had lead us to were we are today, in the world. The 19th century was about the industrial revalution. The 20th century was about physics and engineering. The 21th century is the digital age. Everything you do in life, comes from technology, or is a result of technology. Doing normal things like playing baseball, or become a race car diver, all of these things have been turned upside down, by software. A few examples would be : Planting seeds. Instead on having to plant one seed at a time. you could use a machine to do all of the work for you, which wasn’t posibal without computer science and technology.  Fashion. Now you usually do online shopping or you are creating our designs online. You need to know programming. Medicine. New tech for illnesses and ways to create things are being made everythday. Your doctor uses an x-ray to see what happened to your ankle. Energy. Software helps with saving energy, make their carbon emmisons less. Computers help with calculation that are impossible for humans to figure out. Technology is in everything, and things that don’t have tech, are a result of tech.

Week 3 Blog Post

The project I picked was Ariella’s project. I liked the project because the background is constantly changing with a new character except for the last one, since all of the characters were together at the end. I also like how Ariella ended the prject by saying ” Thanks for watchings -Ariella.” It added a nice touch to the video. I liked the animation because, when a new background appeared, there was a new actor for each one, and each background fit the actor in that background. For example, the dragon was flying around the castle and was breathing fire. The castle blended with the dragon. The sound track went along with the entire peace. It wasn’t out of place, it was there and that really made the peice seem like a cartoony music video.

Week 2 Blog Post

This week, in tynker I started Loops and Animations. In the introduction of it tynker basically tells us that we have to help him/ program him to survive the trip. The second lesson tells us to play a game to grab the floating object, by pressing the space bar at the right time. The next lesson we learn about programming concepts. You have 3 buttons: actors, costumes, and code blocks. When you click each on you get information on each one. The fourth lesson is just working on costumes. The fifth lesson is fixing the animation speed. You basically, change the speed so gus can stay on the screen. The 6th lesson tells us how to animate on your own and the last lesson gives a chance to make our own animations. Overall the entire thing was kind of easy, but something that was difficult was the actuall coding, because I am not really that experienced in coding.

For my About Me project I played around with a lot of the codes like. My About Me project’s background is hogwarts, and I picked that background, because I am a huge fan of harry potter. For my character, I pick a character that kind of looked like me. Since I had done Loops and Animations this week I decided to use what I learned, like the speed lesson, I learned what speed to keept the animation at, so it wouldn’t go the screen 2 seconds later.

Capstone Blog Post #3 – The Final Project

For my Capstone project, I decided that I would do a screencast. I was already familiar with using screencast and Google slides, but I wasn’t familiar with the other ways you could do your Capstone project.

The most fun part about making my project would definitely have been everything. Finding the pictures, making the slides, practicing my script, and the rest was just so much fun for me. However, I did experience a few challenges. I kept on having blurry pictures and when I was recording the final project the images wouldn’t move properly, but in the end, I got everything sorted out.

I am looking forward to seeing the final product because I put a lot of hard work into this presentation and I want to see it be a success. This entire process has been very fun for me and a new experience. Thank you for reading my blog posts on Capstone and I hope you enjoyed it.

Rocketry

This rocketry unit is very fun but annoying. I learned what aerodynamics are and what each part of the rocket does. Making the inspiration board was very hard. Cooperating is a problem in our group. For example “Stop it now” “UHH we are so behind” but we managed to finish in time.

Making the first rocket was so very very difficult. Every one was bursting with ideas and putting his ideas  out on the page making it so hard to make the perfect rocket design.

I am looking forward to  designing and launching rockets because I have never made a rocket or launched on. I also look forward to when our group will not argue the whole time that we’re working on the project.
