Maglev – Day #1

A maglev train is a train with magnets on the bottom and on the track. It works by having magnets repel each other, so it moves from the magnets on the track that are repelling it. The magnets’ poles must be facing each other, and the poles must be alike, like North and North. Our groups 1st idea was putting a lot of magnets, so it repelled enough. But it didn’t work. It was a little too heavy.

We needed to create again. We started to put three strip magnets on the track and three strip magnets on the cart. So far that has worked. That was after our first idea. What didn’t work was putting lots of magnets on it, because it literally just collapsed. And also, the magnets on the track wouldn’t stay together. The masking tape just wasn’t strong enough. That was a big problem.

Jaden, Mark, and I worked really well together. We didn’t have any arguments, and everyone was really calm. We got a lot done, even though we haven’t succeeded yet.

  1. KC, I thought yours was great! I have not succeeded yet and I put the car magnets the wrong way. I hope the maglev train will become great someday.

    • Thanks, FM! I know how you feel. I by accident put the magnets the wrong way once. I didn’t succeed yet.
