Moon Blog March 9th

Today marks the eleventh day of our moon phase blog. You will be expected to:

  • go outside to view the moon
  • record your observations on my blog
  • include date, time and conditions of the sky when you observed
  • and include a fact you know or just learned about the moon or anything interesting about astronomy
  • maybe try the sky guide app

Make sure to proofread over what you have written to make sure that you included capital letters, proper punctuation, correct spelling and that your post makes sense. Have fun!

Moon rise time:  3:03p.m.

  1. Today is March 9th at 8:27pm and there is blue everywhere! No cloud in sight but I really can’t see the moon! The sun is hurting my eyes so I don’t look near the sun so the moon must be in the direction of the sun! The first person to set foot on the Moon was Neil Armstrong. I think it was a waxing gibbous though I can’t see it.

  2. Today is March 9th two thousand seventeen and it is 4:25pm and right now the sky conditions are mostly clear and at the moment the moon is not out in the beautiful clear sky. But I hear that later the moon will come out (waxing gibbous).

  3. Today is Thursday, March 9th at 4:24pm. The sky was sunny with some clouds. I saw the moon. The moon was a waxing gibbous. It was cool to see the moon during daylight hours.

    • Wow! Did the plane fly across the moon? Really, I never knew that the moon has no global magnetic field! Great work!*

  7. Today is March 9th at 6:06 pm. I saw a full moon tonight!
The moon was probably made about 4.5 billion years ago.

  8. Today is March 8th 6:00 pm. It’s a full moon tonight I could see the moon perfectly it was so bright, but it was cloudy and foggy. It was a full circle.

  9. Today March 9th at 6:22pm. The sky was a little cloudy and mostly blue. I saw the moon it was very close to a full moon but not yet. An interesting fact about astronomy I learned on a website is that Saturn would float if you would put water in it. Another interesting fact is that only 55% of all Americans know the sun is a star.

  10. Today is March-9 4:30 pm I saw a waxing gibbous moon tonight.Mass is not distributed uniformly inside the moon. Large mass concentrations (“mascons”) lie beneath the surface of many large lunar basins and probably represent thick accumulations of dense lava. Relative to its geometric center, the moon’s center of mass is displaced toward Earth by several kilometers.

  11. Today at 7:04pm March 8th, the sky was clear and I saw the moon but it was cloudy. There was pretty much nothing. I also learned that a major purpose is to light up the night. The moon reflects the sun’s light on to us even when the sun is on the other side of the earth. The amount of reflected light depends on the moon’s surface area, so we are fortunate to have a moon that is so large.

  12. Today is March 9th 7:30pm. The sky is clear and blue. I can see the moon! I’m guessing tomorrow is going to be the full moon. Today the moon looked like a full moon, but it was not. To me, the moon is missing one tiny piece, like in a puzzle. Did you know, the dark spots we see on the moon that create the image of the man in the moon are actually craters filled with basalt, which is a very dense material.

  13. Today is March 9th at 7:48pm. The sky was dark and clear. I saw the moon it looked like a full moon but it wasn’t.

  14. Today is March 9 at 8:16pm. I could not see the moon tonight but at about 5:30 I saw the moon. One fact I know about the moon is only 59% of the moon’s surface is visible from Earth.

  15. Today is Thursday March 9th. I saw the moon at 4:47pm. The sky was a lighter color at that time. It was light blue. There were some clouds. The moon was 7/8. It was a Waxing Gibbous.

  16. Today is 3/9/17 at 6:32 PM. There were some clouds an some sky. I saw a very big quarter moon. The moon reflected. the moon is in a Waxing Gibbous.
