Moon Blog March 14th

Today marks day sixteen of our moon phase blog. You will be expected to:

  • go outside to view the moon
  • record your observations on my blog
  • include date, time and conditions of the sky when you observed
  • and include a fact you know or just learned about the moon or anything interesting about astronomy
  • maybe try the sky guide app

Make sure to proofread over what you have written to make sure that you included capital letters, proper punctuation, correct spelling and that your post makes sense. Have fun!

  1. Today is March 14th at 7:56. I did not see the moon, probably because the sky was too cloudy. I learned that the dark spots we see on the moon that create the picture of the man in the moon are actually craters filled with basalt, that is a very dense material.

  2. Today at 8:42 March 14th I saw almost nothing but clouds. The clouds were gray. ALso I think the paper made a mistake because using a app called night sky I saw the moon but my dad said “It already set.” The sky was clear pretty windy and black.

  3. Today is March 14th 9:53 P.M. The sky is clear. I still do not see the moon! But today I think it’s waning. According to Science Kids, The surface of the Moon features a huge number of impact craters from comets and asteroids that have collided with the surface over time. Because the Moon lacks an atmosphere or weather these craters remain well preserved.

  4. Today is March 15th at 8:00AM. When I looked up at the sky it was sunny and cloudy. On Sky Guide the moon was a waning gibbous. When I looked up at the sky I could not see the moon.

  5. Today March 15th (moon of the 14th) at 8:25am. The sky was sunny and had a little bit of clouds. I did not see the moon.

  6. Today is March 14 at 8:27pm and I just see grey! I can not see a moon in sight. I couldn’t go outside because today it was too windy and snowy. The length of time it takes the moon to circle the Earth, using the stars to measure the starting point is: 27 days, 7 hours, 43 minutes, 11.5 seconds.

  7. Today is March 15 and 8:02 am and I did not see the moon but here is a fact about the moon from intrestingfactsaboutthemon.com
The Moon (or Luna) is the Earth’s only natural satellite and was formed 4.6 billion years ago around some 30–50 million years after the formation of the solar system. The Moon is in synchronous rotation with Earth meaning the same side is always facing the Earth. The first unmanned mission to the Moon was in 1959 by the Soviet Lunar Program with the first manned landing being Apollo 11 in 1969.
