Good Morning 3D! Happy Earth day!

Please watch the video first, then read the post for a closer look about the activities for today:

Remember to plan out your day. Do an assignment. Take a mental break (go outdoors, listen to music, play a board game – whatever you need.) Then come back and tackle another assignment. Try to plan your day like a school day 8:30-3pm, so you have the afternoon and evenings free.

Please remember to visit the specials websites:  Heathcotegateway E-Learning option

Mrs. Sorenson will be having OPEN LIBRARY every afternoon from 1:00 pm – 1:30 pm. Drop in to consult with Miss Sorensen about anything – book recommendations, help with using a database, tips for research, etc. I updated our zoom session chart with her zoom link and password in your SS folder.

REMINDER: Mrs. Gelosa and Mrs. Dolma are commenting and checking assignments on your E-learning slides.

ZOOM SCHEDULE: Please look in your SS folder for the updated zoom schedule for the week of April 20th. Our class will zoom today at 11am with Mr. Casal to talk about our poetry festival next week. We will also celebrate Eli’s birthday so please come with a joke. We will have 5 different people share a joke today.  I will meet with a small group today or with anyone that needs help with yesterday’s assignments or today’s assignments. Please come with questions prepared if you need help.

I will see students #9, 10, 11, 12 for a small group today after our zoom if time permits with our tech lesson. If not, then I will meet with these students on Thursday.

Mr. Casal/Eli’s bday/ possibly a small group: 11:00am-12ish

Questions? Continue to add to our class Padlet: E-Learning Questions

Happy birthday Eli! Come with a joke to help celebrate.

READING/WRITING ~POETRY: Acrostic Poems

Poetry for Heathcote Art & Poetry Festival

Today you are being asked to choose a poem that you already wrote (not a published poem from a website) that you would like to share and present on Heathcote’s Virtual Art and Poetry Festival. You have been writing a collection of poems over the last two weeks, so this shouldn’t take too long to choose. Once you have chosen your favorite poem, you will learn how to create a “Google Drawing” in your “Writing Folder” on your drive. You will learn about inserting pictures, drawings and other creative and colorful options that relate to the poem’s meaning. At the same time, our class will learn how to include your poems in a google shape of your choosing. Most importantly, your writing MUST be readable – meaning color and font choice should be carefully chosen.

This assignment will be due Friday, April 24th . Poems will then be inserted onto padlets that will be assigned to our class by Tuesday April 28th. The poetry festival will be live on April 29th for all to see.  We will go over all of this during today’s tech zoom session with Mr. Casal.  Please keep in mind our zoom session may run a little longer than usual today.

Please watch the video below to learn about acrostic poems.

SMART FACT

The first Earth Day was celebrated in 1970, when a United States senator from Wisconsin organized a national demonstration to raise awareness about environmental issues. Rallies took place across the country and, by the end of the year, the U.S. government had created the Environmental Protection Agency. By 1990, Earth Day was an event celebrated by more than 140 countries around the globe. Click on this National Geographic link to learn how you can help to make a difference
