Friday, April 17 ~ E-learning

Good Morning 3D!

Please watch the video below first, then read the blog for closer details for the assignments today.

Remember to plan out your day. Do an assignment. Take a mental break (go outdoors, listen to music, play a board game – whatever you need.) Then come back and tackle another assignment. That seems to be the best approach and one where you can get the most out of your day!

Please remember to visit the specials websites:  Heathcotegateway E-Learning option

Visit Dr Schultz’s google classroom for her new assignment: Let’s Learn about the Viola

REMINDER: After completing your work everyday  PLEASE press share and include my email (ldegrazia@scarsdaleschools.org), so I can review and comment on your slides promptly.

No formal zoom sessions today for our class:

If anyone feels they need a zoom session with me today, please let me know on padlet by 10:30. I can organize small groups by a need basis and can figure out a schedule by 11am or so.

Questions? Continue to add to our class Padlet: E-Learning Questions

READING/WRITING: POETRY CENTERS

Watch Mrs. Mangan’s video below and enjoy exploring poetry in a different way today! Get inspired by a beautiful piece of poetry and create some art that shows what you see in your mind. Or go outside and find something that inspires you in nature to be descriptive and create your own poetry. Please complete at least one of these activities today. Post a picture of your artwork or nature item, and then use the microphone to read aloud the poem to go with it.

Here are the slides from the video to help guide you better: poetry slides

CURSIVE IS DUE TODAY: LOWERCASE q and n

Math: Mass and Weight ~ Compound units with Kg and G

Today in the video you will learn you can weigh objects in compound units, kilograms and grams. You will see examples of enlarged scales and discuss the value of each unlabeled mark. This video will help you understand how to read different weighing scales. Also, you will look at a balance scale instead of a weighing scale to measure the mass of an object.

Copy and paste option: Workbook p17

Print option: WB 17

Below visit Thinking Blocks to revisit bar modeling strategies. You can select a model to challenge yourself to different word problems. Read the word problems, label the bars, create the actual bar models and solve the problem.  This great website guides you and gives you hints along the way to be successful solving word problems by drawing a bar model .

On Epic I only see 7 students that read Tracking the Weather. Remember this was your assignment yesterday. Please finish this book and take notes today.

SMART FACT

On this day in the year 1964 The Ford Motor Co. unveiled its new Mustang model at the New York World’s Fair. The Mustang was championed by Ford Division general manager Lee Iacocca, with a suggested retail price of $2,368. The car was a great success and sold over one million cars in its first 18 months. In the Disney movie Tomorrowland (have you seen it?), there’s a 10 minute prologue set at The New York World’s Fair 1964  that was held in Queens, NY that year.
