Math: Capacity

Watch this video to observe how we can create a graduated cylinder that holds one liter. We can then use that new measuring tool to measure the capacity of an unknown container.

Watch this video and learn how you can use a graduated cylinder to measure an unknown container’s capacity.

The workbook pages you are responsible to copy and paste to your April E-Learning slideshow are pages 43 and 44. The experiment you observed in the videos above is detailed on workbook pages 41 and 42. If you would like to try to recreate this experiment, you can. Take a video of yourself and upload it to Seesaw. We would love to see your work! Good luck and have fun!

copy and paste: Workbook pages 41-44

print option: Workbook pages 41-44

OPTIONAL EXPERIMENT: pp41-42

Science: Weather and Climate

In this lesson, Mystery Doug will take you on an adventure around the world to identify climate zones and weather patterns. Watch the introductory video carefully so you will know how to prepare for the awesome learning opportunity that Doug has prepared for you.

NOTE: In the video they show supplies for a group because it is made for a classroom activity, you will only need one of each of the maps to complete the activity.

Please use these slides Weather & Climate Part Three to guide you for your work today

This is a two day activity, so you can finish it by Friday.

  • Watch Mrs. Boyer’s video
  • Print out maps and gather materials for the activity during video
    • Remember since we aren’t in class when Doug says get 2 maps you are only printing 1 map of each that we provided–follow Mrs. Boyer’s directions
    • Also, when he mentions check with a partner–this may mean zoom with a partner or check with a parent
  • Watch Mystery Doug video: Climate, Geography and Global Weather Patterns
  • Color in Climate Decoder & MAPS and follow Doug’s directions
  • Answer questions
  • Share new learnings and new questions on Seesaw (show your maps too either on seesaw or slides)

SMART FACT

On this day in 1993 the World Wide Web was born. A team at the University of Illinois’ National Center for Supercomputing Applications released Mosaic, the first Web browser to become popular with the general public. The next few years saw the launch of such websites as Yahoo (1994), Amazon (1995), eBay (1995) and Google (1998).  What do you imagine the future of the web to be like when you are in college?
