The Important thing about Sylvia Earle

The important thing about Sylvia Earle is that she broke records in ocean. She was born in Gibbstown, Greenwich Township,NJ. She did not like it when she moved. It made her sad to think about it., but she eventually got over it and when on to being an oceanographer and an explorer. Sylvia also held the world record for the deepest untethered dive. She made many records in the ocean, For example she In 1979, she was the first person ever to dive by herself 1,250 feet (381 meters) beneath the surface without being connected to any support vessel. During that dive, she reached the floor of the Pacific Ocean near Hawaii! Obviously there were many backfires. On her first try she went to the lake and she saw an alligator fish she wasn’t scared though. Her parents taught Sylvia to be very brave and to be “fearless”. Then suddenly she felt very dizzy and found out that she was breathing bad air that almost killed her, she didn’t freak out she continued her dream. She continued to break records in the ocean. In the 1960s, she went all around the world to also study marine plants. She was very brave and she did what she thought had to be right, but the important thing about Sylvia Earle is that she discovered part of the ocean.

Good Job Lucy! I didn’t know Sylvia Earle touched the ocean floor in 1979. It was really cool to learn about her, and it was even more fascinating to know that she touched the Ocean floor. No wonder she was called “brave”
