Reflective post 8 – tech

I really liked Tech. I enjoyed all the projects i got to build and the stuff we got to learn about. My favorite project was probably the laser cutting piece because I liked the aspect of drawing my design and I really liked tracing my design. I thought it was really cool how we made switches. We started off with cardboard, tin foil, and other stuff like straws, glue, and popsicle sticks. We made 3 switches and they were all so cool! Overall I really enjoyed tech

Today we learned about switches. We were told to make 3 light bulbs light up. With 3 switches, 3 light bulbs, one battery and wires. Even if you turn off one of the switches the other lights would still be able to turn on. I learned that this is how my house is wired because if one light goes off in a room the others dont. I found wiring the lights was really difficult.

Reflective post 6 – Tech

When we first started this project, switches. I thought to myself “Why are we making switches?” But after I made my first switch I realized that making Switches were really fun. Our switches are used to turn on a light. The light is battery operated. To build the switch you need to make two pieces of tin foil touch. So for one of my switches you pushed down on a piece of cardboard and it makes the tin foil touch. That’s one example of a switch another example is pushing something so the tin foil touches. Overall I really liked learning about switches and I really enjoyed making them.

Over the past couple of days we have been working on a laser cutting project and I was working on a frog with a hat. While I worked on this I lost my original drawing and had to redraw it. After that while i was tracing it on i got confused with the colors and had to re do that as well. Finally after many attempts i got it right!

Reflection post 5

The weeks before break and this week, we started working on wire jewelry. For thus project I made a pendant that has my grandmas initials: CL. When I first started this project I didn’t know who’s initials to do. Then I realized my grandma would be perfect! To make the circle that the letters would go into i took a pice of wire. Then I formed a circle with wire remaining. I took they remaining wire and looped it. Looping it was my favorite part of the project. To make the letters I used my hands and round nose pliers. When I saudered, that was defiantly the most scary part because I didn’t want to get burned.

Last week we learned about protons and neutrons and I learned that neutrons move about from protons and I thought that was cool. We learned that if you rub a ballon on a sweater the ballon is attracted to the sweater. Over all I thought the lesson was fun and I really enjoyed it. The lesson was engaging and I liked the simulation that we got to play.

Technology Blog Post 1.

Today we did the Breakout.edu lesson. I thought this lesson was super fun and engaging because not only did this lesson review our knowledge of the safety rules but also helped us work together as a group to help us when we work on future projects. Overall I really enjoyed this lesson  and I don’t think you need to change anything about it.

Final Reflection

When I first came into computer tech I had never been on Scratch before, I was super confused and I had no experience coding. Eventually I got the hang of coding. When we did our first project, animating a word, I pieced together a code and eventually I was able to use scratch! To advance in coding I would love to learn how to code using Python because I think its super cool that you can code using symbols and letters. I would also like to code on Tynker because I want to learn how to code on more websites. I didn’t know before I came to computer tech that the phrase ‘a bug in the system” comes from a moth in the motherboard that Grace Hopper discovered.

Underwater Dreams Reflection

In the movie, Underwater Dreams, the main characters took part in a underwater robotics competition. The boys were only in high school, they were competing against some top collages. The boys were undocumented immigrants from Mexico. Their family’s didn’t have enough money. When they were building their robot, the parts used to make the robot were parts from Home Depot while the other schools had expensive parts that were handmade. The boys robot cost $800 to make while the other schools like MIT had sponsors and their robot cost hundreds of thousands of dollars. When they were at the competition they had a lot of issues with their robot. There was flooding where the mother board was, they didn’t know how to solve this issue. But they figured out a way to stop the flooding and were resourceful. They worked super hard on there paper and presentation and they ended up winning the competition! After winning the competition the boys took different paths. They couldn’t do a lot of stuff because they were undocumented immigrants so they couldn’t be engineers like they wanted to be. They inspired many kids at the school that they went to that no matter what your origins are you can do great things.

Reflection Post 3 – Computer Tech

This past week we have done a lot of codes but when my partner and I were doing the Interactive Story we got quite far but then we had a issue moving the characters at the right time to make them become smaller. We didn’t know what to do at first, we tried to fix the problem by ourselves but it kept going wrong. After that we went to out teacher Mrs. Cronx and we asked for help and we figured out how to fix our problem. I’m glad that I encountered that issue so I can understand how to fix my mistakes.
