Being home

I enjoy being home during this pandemic. Not only do I like it, but it is the safe thing to do, so that the virus will slowly start to go down. I have been spending time with my family, going on walks, and paying games to waste time, but some of this stuff can get boring after a while. I hope everyone is healthy and staying home!

Blog post #2

Since we have been at home, not much is going on for technology class, since it is a very hands on class. This week in technology class, I watched a video on trees, and had to take a quiz on it. Other than that, there has not been that much more with technology. At home, I have been doing lots of school work and I’ve also been spending time with my family.

Blog post #5 – life at home

Due to the corona virus, I didn’t have school last week, and I still have at least two more weeks off. Because the corona virus is so contagious, I cant hang out with friends, or go anywhere really. In this time, Ive had to friend things to do. I have mostly been watching tv, talking to friends on the phone, catching up on schoolwork, and going outside to get fresh air, especially since I’m basically stuck in my house. Although school work may not be the most fun to do, it is a good and productive way to waste time.

Blog post #4-fourth week reflection

This week in tech as been the most productive week so far. I have measured and cut the two sides, so now all of my measuring and cutting is done for this project. Although I have already measured and cut my wood, I’m not even close to being done with this project. After cutting my wood, the edges are very rough and uneven, so my next step is sanding the wood. To sand my wood, I will use a belt sander to smooth the sides out. Additionally, after I did all of my cutting, my wood lengths are still uneven, so I have to figured out what length to adjust my box to so that all sides are even and meet up with each other. Thanks for reading my blog!

Here is a picture of my box so far:

Blog post #3 – Third Week Reflection

This week in technology, my class and I have gotten a lot of work done by starting our boxes! There were many steps and activities that went into this week so that my box will end up just right. First, I measured the wood for the top/lid of the box, and for the bottom/base of the box. My bottom hand top pieces measure to about 8in by 5 in. Then, once Ive wrote down the size of my box, I used a vice to hold my wood in place, And then used a Hand saw to cut the extra wood off, and to cut the wood so that both pieces are even. Lastly, I measured the front/back of the box, and soon I’m going to cut them so then I can eventually start putting my box together.

Blog post #2 – week two reflection

This week I engaged in many activities in technology class. First I worked in tinkerCad where I could make 3D designs. In this case, I wrote my name. I also took on the role as a designer/ architect, and drafted a design of what my box is going to look like. After that,  I took on the role of builder, and “ordered” the materials I would need to build my box. Lastly I used a hand plane, and learned how to use it because this tool will eventually be really helpful during the process of creating sand building my box.

Blog post #1 – exploring wood tools

I used the screwdrivers to put the screws into the wood. I found it easy to put the screws into the wood, but on the other hand, I found it hard to take them out, after they were deep into the wood. There were a few different screwdrivers that I used, some were easier to use than the others. I found the small screws easier to be able to put in the wood because you didn’t have to put as much material in. There were a few types of food, some thinner and lighter, some heavier and thicker.

Technology post #7

The automata project was a huge success! It was a really fun project to make! Not only was it fun, but it was for my dad for fathers day and he loved it! It is the end of the school year, which means technology is officially over. I’m so sad that technology is over, and I can’t wait for it next year!

bye for now!

Technology Post #6

Hi again,

in technology, we have started a new subject! Atomatas! The very first step to this project was seeing what they are. An activity that my class did was to use the automatas, but not to see the inside. From there, we had to guess what it was like on the inside. Since many people had never worked with automatas, this was a good activity to start the unit with. Read my next blog post to see how the project turned out.

Technology Post #5

Hi again,

recently in technology we have been working on making flashlights. The first step of making flashlights is diagraming everything. After this part was done, it was a very fun project. After diagramming, I had to collect all of the materials that I needed. Some of the materials that I needed were the switch, 3 wires, which made the circuit. Then I also needed multiple pipes. This project took about five days to finish. I had to diagram with the exact measurements, solder the circuit and switch together, put the wholes in, and finally put everything together! Overall, it was a very fun project, and I would love to make another flashlight!
