Squishies Craze

It was the beginning of the 2017-18 school year at Heathcote Elementary School in the 5-C classroom when suddenly many students started having a “squishies craze.”

It was mostly girls who were trading and squishing all day long. This became a big distraction during class and Mrs.Cooper had to give her class a warning that if they came out again she would have to ban them from the classroom. That then forced the students to not use them as much during class. The squishies were really distracting when the students started using them in a way that was more distracting than it had to be. For example kids were throwing them instead of just easily squishing them. According to boys of 5-C the girls that were playing with squishies were; Lilly T, Jordan K, Naomi F, Sarina M, Carlie K, and Gabi S.

According “ I felt that everybody in my class wouldn’t ruin it because some people were being fine” Said Jordan K of 5-C. “ I like squishies because they are satisfying, they are fun to play with, and you can get them in all shapes and sizes.”

Booing Time

It was a normal October weekend with Halloween vibes floating through the air and kids were starting to boo their friends. Booing has been around for multiple years in the Scarsdale area. Booing is where you run up to your friends house, ring the doorbell, drop candy, and RUN! When the school week started many 5th graders were asking questions in the fifth grade wing such as “Do you know who booed me?” “Did you?” “What kind of car do you have? What color?” According to multiple students some other students told them they booed them and others kept it a secret!
