Building

To build something means to make a structure out of anything you can use. You could use any tools you want or anything you want that you have access to. It also doesn’t have to be a structure it could be  anything you make and call a building. Buildings can look like anything you want them to look like. They could be big, small, wide, long or anything. For an example some building in New York City are very tall but very narrow. Other buildings are very short but wide.

Last year I made a flashlight. This flashlight was made out of a lot of materials including duck tape, wires, circuits, cardboard, hot glue and much more. This flashlight took a while to make but after I was done with it I was so proud because I never thought I could make a flash light by myself. I build this for the most part by myself but towards the end of the quarter when I still wasn’t done with the flashlight I needed a bit of help so my friends helped me to decorate  it a bit so I would finish in time. Also of course Mr. Calvert showed us how to do things and helped me a bit when my flashlight wasn’t lighting up but fore the most part I did it by myself. I don’t use this flashlight or have it anymore became I gave it to Mr. Calvert to show the upcoming 6th graders as an example. Here is a Picture of the flashlight.

I do not enjoy building things becase I find it very hard to build things even with instructions. It also isn’t very interesting to me and I sometimes will get distracted while building anything. I enjoy playing sports and this is very different than building stuff because when I play sports I cant get distracted. I don’t want the other team to score or anything. It is also very fun to me to run around and it makes me happy when I score in basketball or something like that. I don’t like to be stuck in a classroom being instructed how to build something when I can be active outside.
